If by "set apart" you mean outclassed then we are in agreement. Abyss Defiant is at least equal and doesn't take up an exotic slot. What a treat it must be to have the once coveted SUROS drop on Nightfall only to collect dust in your vault.
-
But it was only coveted because it was OP. It is still an effective weapon in the correct circumstances for the weapon type. People are just used to it being dominant and are now upset that they aren't. Don't use the AR as an exotic. Simple.
-
Yes, it was coveted because it was slightly OP, which is exactly what I said in my original post, which you then argued in favor of perks, which you then flip-flopped and went full circle restating my original post which got you arguing in the first place. You must have learned from the great Wabbit Season / Duck Season debate of 1951. I'll go ahead and play. . . . Shouldn't exotics be slightly OP? Why else would they be desirable? DUCK SEASON!!!
-
I literally had two lines posted. One in each post. But you asked what makes Exotics desirable. It is the weapon perks.
-
The perks which make the weapon OP? The perks are still there for SUROS but since the weapon is no longer OP it is no longer desirable. Therefore, it is the OP nature of the exotic and not the perks which make it desirable. Thank you for making my argument for me.

You asked a general question. Received a general answer and then applied it to a specific situation. Let me say this slowly for you. In. general. an. exotic. is. more. desirable. than. it's. counterparts. because. of. its. perks.
