Vault of Glass 6th/7th Chest Speculation and Information
*First Speculation*
Lately my group and I have been venturing back into the Vault of Glass to attempt a discovery of a new chest. Not finding anything a long time ago, we were discouraged by the fact that we believed there wasn't anything left to be found. Then, this comment was found on Youtube... My friend sent this to me but he is unsure of the name of the video and we are now unable to find the comment. Either way, the quote that this person said, is from a Bungie employee. My friend claims to have heard of this "LRI" guy and said that he MIGHT be one of the raid designers. He does assure to me that he does work for Bungie, though. On to the speculation. The quote makes mention of the chest to have "lied between future and past, but not present." As we know, the only time in between the future and past IS present. This must mean it represents something physical. We have considered this to meaning something about the portal in between the jump puzzle and atheon's room, but then my attention turned elsewhere... Whilst activating the gates to summon Atheon, I remembered how the "past" portal is on the left and the "future" portal is on the right. Then I looked in between them... That little island used for killing Atheon many times over. It COULD be considered a large pedestal. It's the only thing in between "past and future." Could this possibly be where the chest could spawn? Maybe both portals must be kept open for the entirety of the boss fight? Could it have been under our noses (literally) all along? Unfortunately after killing Atheon, we were killing instantly due to being lost in time, even though he died. We were unable to look around by even going back into the portals to look around again.
It gets better. We automatically assume that Atheon must be defeated to retrieve this chest because the quote also says "Time is broken, but it can be fixed, for people have mended it before and left without questioning, what changed." We assumed that killing Atheon will "fix" time which is why we believe something happens on that middle island block AFTER the fight.
Something that really assures this for me is that it says "for people have mended it before and left without questioning, what changed." This could mean that MANY of us have completed the VOG, but didn't look around enough to see what changed. This quote almost seems to assure that something happens AFTER the fight.
What do you guys think? Do you have hope for there to be a chest here? What are your thoughts? What else have you heard?
Here's to hoping that some people still care for the Vault of Glass. Please share what you think and spread the post so that others can see our ideas. I look forward to reading any responses!
Edit1: I also realize that the commenter says that the quote is about that "secret cave" in the jump puzzle area. The employee DID NOT say anything about that cave. He only made mention of the past and future deal. Though if it is, then maybe there must be a way to return there AFTER the atheon kill?

Most of us have seen that tiny hole in the side of the jump puzzle room right? If you have then I'm sure we have all thought the same thing... chest? Well I am not sure whether this was Photoshopped or is legit but my friend found a picture of a chest sitting on a little rock. Could this rock be the "pedestal" mentioned in the quote? Maybe something must be triggered to summon the chest here? Maybe there are actually two missing chests? Picture link below.

And yes I know he said he misheard the question, but it was pretty straight forward. It could be just as easy that Bungie didn't actually want us to know 100%. Plus, he didn't say there wasn't anything else. There is still hope. If that Christmas post is true, then that might be some kind of proof.

Also looking through the mythoclast scope while in the portals might reveal something. And maybe to "fix" time, if its not just killing Atheon, you would have to go backwards or forwards through the portals depending on which one your going through, so backwards into the past and forwards into the future. Could be done by walking backwards or forwards through the portals or maybe which side of the portal you enter since both sides can be entered on each gate. So if you was teleported into the past you would have to run around the gate and go forward towards Atheon into the future. Just some ideas. Edit. Was just pondering some more on how to fix time. It would seem in order to fix time, things would have to be put in order, a timeline. Not saying that you would need to complete the Atheon fight in set portal order, but rather think of Atheon as the center point of a timeline, the present. To the left you have the past and to the right you have the future. In between these three destinations you have the portals. What if you had to always pass through the portals heading towards the present(or past or future). So if Atheon is our center point, in order to make a line towards past, future, or present, you would need to move towards Atheon aftee clearing Oracle's, so go around the gates and come back to the present moving towards Atheon. To me that would put time in order, and fix it. Yes i know that you get back to the present either way, but it's an idea. Also when going in for the gatekeepers, maybe should go from the center out through the portals instead of the sync plate side, this is the side that the minitours come out when you have to defend the center conflux, and that kinda backs up my thoughts

4 RepliesI'm sorry, but I seriously doubt that there's anything left to find in the VoG of any value. If there WERE something valuable or interesting to find, I would think that 6 months in Bungie would say something or give us a proper hint. I still enjoy going through the Vault, but I don't think there's anything to see. Though, I've never heard of this room in the Jump Puzzle...

53 RepliesSince I'm tired of being the only one that knows where it is, I'm just gonna share since I've never had a team actually want to get it. The right, and ONLY the right portal must be open when atheon dies. Upon his death the fire team will walk into said portal and will not be greeted with a timer or distorted vision, instead you will see the past with clear vision now the giant triangle in the back of the room will be covered in vegetation and rock formations that look like platforms. Venture to the top point of the triangle and you prize awaits. Your welcome destiny community.

I think what you're trying to do is very cool. I would love to keep seeing new info as you find it and have to admit it would make sense to have a chest after atheon as the chests before are at the "beginning" of the raid and in the "middle" of the raid if you're getting where I'm going, so it would make sense to have something at the end as well.

6 RepliesAlso the level 30 mobs that spawn in the gate lord area near the start of the raid. Seems odd they would be there for no reason. Also I've only checked on the level 30 raid, haven't peaked in starting up a normal lv26 raid.

2 RepliesAnyone notice that when you spawn at the very beginning of VOG, take a right along the mountain edge and you come across a cave inside a cliff (there's an inactive portal and sometimes some spirit bloom to the left of it) and inside there are some stair steps up to the wall, nothing there though. Seems like a perfect place to put a chest. Good sized are, dark, nothing is spawning from it. Perhaps a chest spawns when you open up the three sync plates and form the spire ? If anyone's interested, I'm free to play VOG on Xbox one. Gt same as above

4 RepliesIs there any real proof of the employee's quote? Links appreciated. It could be that it has something to do with Time's Vengeance, because sometimes after killing Atheon, the modifier returns. The change may be very hard to spy, but we need to look for it. Keep the number 7 in mind. Also, I play on Xbox One and would love to help find it. I've been trying to for a while. Let me know. 6 RepliesI have a theory. Once Atheon is dead, you need all 6 members alive, you get 1 person to stand on Mars portal and 1 on Venus, this then opens the portals. So with 2 players on plates (They stay there) 2 players go through Mars and 2 players through Venus, they then stand on there corresponding plates, so like this: Mr A - Venus Plate Present Mr B - Mars Plate Present Mr C - Venus Plate Future Mr D - Mars Plate Future Mr E - Venus Plate Past Mr F - Mars Plate Past 6 Plates all activated at once, wouldnt that be worth a chest? I haven't tried this, as I just thought about it right now lol P.S Bungie, if I'm right, I think I deserve something cool :)
