I've given this alot of thought. PLEASE READ IT ALL, IT IS WORTH IT and rate it so DeeJ can see this In Destiny, alot of the most interEsting things is the exotics. they all have a story to them. it would make this game so much more amazing if they incorporated the story of the exotics to this games campain . allow me to explain. I propose that all exotics become exotic bounties, please let me explain. they wouldn't be too long, just short little bounties, some can be longer than others but they remain short like 2 or 3 parts to it than can be finished with some effort. example: When playing the crucible, and you win, at the end when everyone waits to see what item they will be randomly given, instead of getting the Gjallarhorn exotic weapon, you get the "Rise of a Giant" exotic bounty in its place. then, you do the exotic bounty and recive the Gjallarhorn after completing it. that concept makes getting a certain exotic much more meaningful and worth the story of getting it. and as bungie said, they want all your gear to have a story behind it. Also, it would be very cool to have one cutscene per exotic weapon that correctly correlates to the weapon, and they happen either at the beginning, or end of the exotic bounty. Example: after you got done with tiger strikes, you decide to cash in all your engrams, lucky for you, one of those turned into an exotic bounty, after reading it you find out that its a "Through Ice and earth" bounty which takes you to the Campus 9 in Venus, where you find a closed room that you break into and find a bunch of scattered parts lying around and in the midst of the parts you find a gun frame. at this moment your Ghost will speak :Its and old prototype weapon, its just a shell but it looks promising, we should take it, see if we can fix it up". at that point you take it to the gunsmith and he tells you of an old weapon that the vanguard discarded due to high guardian death rates. he says he can help you bring it back to life with the right parts. after finding all the right parts. you bring them back to the gunsmith and at that moment a cutscene begins. where you and the gunsmith talk. he approches you and your vanguard mentor comes forward too, and brings out a weapon. its the Icebreaker, he hands it to you and says "be careful guardian, after much consideration with the other mentors, we decided that you can handle this weapon, but be wary of its might, do not let its power overtake you". and then he walks away and you stand there, looking at the icebreaker and it beeps on, and activates, moving its parts in its place. your guardian speaks "I think im going to like this gun" and your Ghost replies "why must you love such dangerous things" and then the cutscene ends. see, now you can tell your friends of the awesome story you had when recieving this weapon, and this adds SUCH MUCH MORE PLAYTIME! each exotic weapon will have a meaning to wielding it even if sold from xur, players will still be proud to have it. Even weapons that already have exotic bounties could have a cutscence like for example the super good advice. upon recieving it you go to mars, where your ghost pinpoints something on your map and you get to it and a cutscene begins where you see a guardian being overtaken by Cabal forces, your guardian goes in and takes them all out, but its too late, the guardian lays there on the ground, injured arm to his chest. you kneel to speak to him, "You are going to be alright, just hold on! ill call for help" to where he replies "It is alright guardian, my time... has come anyways,... but even after this, i ... will not be forgotten, i (cough) i... i must NOT.. be.... Forgotten. (cough).. take this guardian, always rest assured, you.. will never be alone, and even now, i find peace that... i left this world... knowing i was not alone... for you were here ... (cough) in my last... moments." the guardian hands you his weapon, a heavy machine gun, once you take it from his hands, his hands drop to the ground, and he lays motionless. and you stand up. the cutscene ends with a shot of your guardian making a grave of stones over the guardian with his dead ghost on the pile. and he bows and leaves as a sandstorm enters. then the actual exotic bounty begns whre you must please the super good advice and it becomes happy to have you as its new wielder. see, that once cutscene made it so much more memorable. because you will always think of that guardian when wielding that gun. it will have meaning. And i propose this for all the exotic weapons. just the WEAPONS. exotic armor is not included in this. players will love this! i guarantee it. they will be proud to wield their exotics knowing they all have a true story behind them. and will play in hopes of getting one of these bounties just so they can see that awesome cutscene one more time. also this will not make it any easier to get exotics because the bounties will be given to you randomly in the exact same way that exotics are found. RNG will still play a major role in getting these bounties. Please consider this. it might take a few months but in the end, its these cutscenes that we will remember. they will give your game a visual memory, as well as some character development for your guardian. PLEASE READ THIS DEEJ. and tell me what you think. i know it will be hard work to impliment this. btu it will be so worth it in the end when everyone is talking about " oh dang he got that bounty, hes so lucky, i want to see that cutscene" it will give the player and actual feeling of earning the weapon, instead of feelin lucky to have RNGed it. i would love to see this get put in the game. we the players know that exotics are something that should be recieved through an amazing story, now make that story worth telling and we the player will remember it. Edit 1: im glad to see so much positive feedback from my fellow guardians. for those who are asking, the exotic bounties would appear in the exact same way as the exotic weapons do. they are wild bounties, which can appear at any time just like exotic weapons. also, the only weapon to not require a bounty should be the Mythoclast, for the fact that the raid is an acceptable challenge as it is to earn it. also, turning in vanguard bounties would not increase your chances with these regular exotics. there are 6 bounty board exotic bounties already. th other 14 guns will be wild bounties, that can be receive at any time just as exotics. imagine instead of being awarded with an exotic directly, you are awarded with the bounty for it. thats how it would work. so that way, RNG still plays a major factor in this just as it always will, but you get a sense of earning that weapon even if alittle bit, plus the additional feeling of pride when holding the weapon because you know its story and you will remember it because of the cutscene. Edit 2: in another not, i should detail that Xur would also cease selling exotic weapons and instead, sell the bounty for the weapon in its place. it'll give you something to do over the weekend instead of "oh okay, now that i bought it, ill just vault it, and wait for the weekly reset until he comes next time." Edit 3: i should also mention that discarding the bounty before completing it would hand you the breakdown material like shards and glimmer. the bounty should be done for fun. that way if you already have the weapon and dont feel like doing the bounty again just to shard it anyways, you cna just shard it directly. the point of this whole concept revolves around the cutscene and story attached to the weapon. this isn't a means to make it harder for people to get exotics.
