You can never solo the weekly heroic again
How does it feel? I'm honestly very upset. Once it drops I won't be able to duo it with one friend now (or solo), we have to:
1) drag a horrible player through
2) deal with an afk player
3) ugh
What do you guys think? I want an optional no matchmaking button. Is it that hard?

I still get to solo even after the update drops because even though I have open nat and I have tried everything on my end to fix it. I have no matchmaking open to me. I solo the strike playlist and never get a match in cruicible. Even though I can play any other matchmaking game just fine. Only way I can run cruicible is to team up with friends. Also its just an option to use the matchmaking. Just team up like you used to and run it. I don't understand the problem.

How hard is it to add optional matchmaking to EVERYTHING? Bungie are either complete morons, slow people or just plain lazy. Probably an unbelievable combination of it all. I'm not a game designer. But optional matchmaking? That's the first thing I would have added to a game like this. Do ROC strikes with 2 people without having to get a 3rd. How hard is that to understand? Bunch of incompetent people at Bungie ffs.

2 RepliesThis is pretty much the worst way Bungie could have implemented matchmaking into the end-game content. Nobody asked for help with the Heroics, it was the Raid and Nightfall they wanted this on. Second, it should be an option, not mandatory. Sometimes I want to start the Heroic and have my friends join me when they are ready. Sometimes nobody is on and I just want to solo it. The reasons listed in the OP are the main reasons I usually avoid the Vanguard playlist. I don't want to deal with AFKs and I don't want to drag a lower level through so he can get free rewards off my effort. On a side note, I was doing the Devil's Lair strike off the map the other day for the bounty. Walking Tall was also available, so I figured I'd get both in one go. One of the guys I got stuck with was totally hanging back the whole time. He waited for us to clear out the first room, waited until the Walker was almost dead before joining that fight and then tried to sit outside the door on the final fight. I'd finally had enough so I went out and started meleeing him to get him into the fight. He didn't move. So I started pushing him. No reaction. I realized he had gone AFK. So I kept pushing him all the way out into the main area, then used him as cover while shooting Sepiks Prime. SP teleported right beside us and blasted that guy into atoms. No Walking Tall for you that day, loser! But imagine this in the Heroics? Thanks, Bungie!

6 RepliesIf you solo a strike it actually gives the boss more health. Having even an afk is better than solo.

Get teamed with like minded individuals and maybe find a life long friend, get married, use said new best friend as a best man, go on boys holidays together, have really cool adventures, sit on the porch as old men reminiscing about the time you met playing destiny, thanking bungie for adding matchmaking on the weekly heroic.

I wasn't expecting anything good when Deej mentioned strike changes last week. Most people, myself included, would've loved for Bungie to crack down on AFKERS. But this is doing the opposite.

Been playing since day 1. Honestly I will miss soloing the heroic, but my son now plays and he is just outside the ability to solo himself. He also does not have many online friends playing destiny we trust allowing him to play with online with chat active. This may allow him to get further in the game.

Who cares? It doesn't make it any harder. It just makes it easier for the majority to complete the weekly with other people.... Not everyone is good enough to solo it and not everyone wants to get on lfg or try and find friends online to play with.

I'll solo it by killing the scrubs that go afk in my fireteam until they leave then again I won't have to deal with that since I will most likely run it with 2 other friends rather than randoms

I think it's sad they try to make something better and actually make it worse!! Matchmaking is a good idea, but 1) it should be optional, 2) afk has to be addressed first!! Now it could just get another annoying part of the game...

I understand the "why" behind it but I agree with all of the aforementioned points. Especially those who will abuse and go AFK, happens a lot as it is. I don't mind carrying someone through who might need some help and be inexperienced but, ugh. Still can find people on forums, add them to your fireteam and start the weekly. At least that will avoid the AFK problem.

Meh...who cares if someone else joins? Really it just makes it faster(granted, if you close your fireteam then even in matchmaking no one should be able to join).

The weekly is never that much of a problem, its just another strike with a little bit of an added difficulty. You can still try soloing or duoing the Nightfall which is a much more intense situation. and think of the AFK player as you guys just duoing it again, that so bad?

I like to take my time and listen to podcasts while playing. This means I wont have 100% focus on the game. That's why I prefer to solo it, no rush in finishing it
