Help me in PvP (video)

Hey guys, I am starting this topic, which many have talked about before, to give a place where players can look to get tips from the community on how to improve in PvP. The video I have linked is a gameplay I have of me getting my personal best for both score and kills in a single game. (10k plus score and 60 kills) In the video I talk about some tips that most all of us know and then also just the mentality of some one who wants to improve. Some tips outside of the video- If you have multiple classes practice with them in the Crucible, the more you know about other classes the better equipped you are to counter them in the Crucible. Personally I have a Hunter and two Warlocks, I have played both extensively in the Crucible and have used both of their unique classes a lot. This way I get a good feel for what advantages and disadvantages both classes have and I can look to capitalize on that in the Crucible. Don't hate on other play styles, instead learn from them. I know I really don't like going against fusion rifles and at first this was so annoying for me but I kept the mentality of trying to learn from people who use them instead of just getting frustrated when people do, now I feel ready when I see a team full of fusion rifle users. Learn to use your supers. By this I mean find the most advantages time to use it. What can happen is that you know you want to use a super to fight for heavy ammo but heavy ammo does not come up for another three minutes, so yes fighting for heavy with your super is almost always a good idea but you may be able to use your super and get another one in that three minute time span. For me some times I will go into Crucible knowing I want to work on my super use so instead of holding on to it for the "perfect" time I will give myself around a 10 second window of when I get my super to when I use it, this way I use the most amount of supers as possible and I get a lot of practice with them. I hope you guys can add to my tips and that we can all keep improving as a community to make the strongest, most competitive Destiny possible.

  • just watched the vid and i notice you hate fusions as i once hated shotties. As a fusion rifle enthusiast, with knowledge of your loadout, I would divide your counters into range. Close range you carry a shot gun you win. ON maps like Anomaly I use a shot gun because shotties shit all over my fusion rifle because they have the faster ttk and can bumrush around small corners. One thing that works is to know their rifle and blink the damage. Im sure you can pick up on what weps are in game quickly. Mid range you can duck in and out of cover like they will and just give them little pokes. They will usually either kill u outright or miss everything which gives u a good chance to tack on damage. Once their shield is low enough toss a nade and keep it moving. If no cover either run or double blink towards them. If you get them to miss their first shot they will usually panic and miss the next. Best case is for you to get your second blink to land behind them. My guess is most people play on 3 sensitivity. Yours seems higher so you will spin faster. Anything longer than mid range should not be a problem. Dont know if you already do this or not but you can lead your shotgun with nades. Toss one around the corner as you run, and all you have to do is get into range to drop their shield. By the time you get your shot off the nade will pop and it will seem like you just 1 shot them from double your range. again really good video with solid tips. If you want to see fusions first hand but detest using them I can send you one of my vids to make a counter strat based off of my play style.

        • Another tip i can add Is to record your play and then watch. 60 kills is pretty insane and i wanted to get that many kills myself. Even in my best games where i dont even die and i feel like im running around as fast as i can, I still cant break 40. I found out it has to do with my weapon sets the lines I run and how I move around. I am mostly cautious and get kills by flanking. I also tend to use fusions which will take out a group slower than say a shotty. Another personal problem is staying off tilt. I find that after you build momentum and stomp a team, they usually change their play style. When that happens I tend to slow down on my kills. But def make those vids and have GOOD SMART players give input.

          • Nice tips man. The Thorn is my nemesis too bro. That gun!!! It took me ages to get my head around crucible. I play reasonably well with my Hunter now and got a Mark of the Unbroken the other day. 30 kills with no deaths! It was like a second Christmas. I personally use a scout sniper combo with maxed agility (except on Anomaly ... that map is sooooo small) and find that it works to me. :-)
