You have zero evidence of this. I've barely gotten multiples of any exotic. In fact, the only duplicates I've gotten are two Patience and Time and three Vex. The Vex doesn't even really count because it's the only exotic that you can actually grind for. It only drops from a specific encounter. People get multiple drops because they have three characters and they play too much.
