Capcom did a good job on those, but they didn't have as big an effect on gaming as a whole as the n64 titles did. Ocarina was a landmark for the industry, and majoras improved on it in interesting ways.

Because ages and seasons having a cross game gameplay system and content you can only access on a device one generation further than the device it was released for wasn't pretty innovative or anything >.>

Meh. Codes were around before those games. Sure it was fun, but as far as moving gaming forward it wasn't as big of a leap as ocarina and majoras were. Don't get me wrong I love the whole series, but if I'm cherry picking the most influential out of them its gonna be either those 2, the original, or link to the past.

  • Codes were around before, but they tended to stick to their own games ;) and a system like the advance shop is something I still haven't seen replicated in any game (which actually kinda depresses me cus that is a brilliant idea) I didn't get to play much of OoS, but the story of OoA is still to date one of the best LoZ stories in my opinion and some of the different gameplay mechanics like the rings that change your form into different monsters so certain enemies don't aggro you is just genius. Don't get me wrong I'm not bashing other zelda titles, heck OoT and MM rank as some of my favourite games, but I think OoT gets FAR too much hype, yes it's one of the best games ever and it helped to shape the future of gaming, but when you really break it down its heavily dumbed down compared to the past zelda games and a lot of the time spent during actual gameplay is increased by waiting mechanics :/ (still a great game though, played every iteration of it)

Personally I think if I were picking the "best" as far as gameplay and story go I would go with twilight princess or wind waker. Yeah twilight princess is a lot like OoT , but thats not a bad problem to have, it was bursting with things to do, had some of the more fleshed out characters of the series, and was all around a great game. Wind waker was a breath of fresh air kinda like MM was, and its funny how the art style so many shunned at first has held up best over the years. I played the oracle games both ways, (seasons, then ages, then seasons again) it was a really neat feature for sure, but I guess the expense of developing extra content like that with modern games isn't justified in terms of profit. Or perhaps they're afraid of getting backlash from having content that requires you to buy another game to see, who knows.
