Thats what i think too. The Lightswitch, elemental damage, and high damage melee minions in higher level content makes getting close to your target unacceptable. Why would you take a low range, low accuracy, unpredictable dps weapon over a long range, high accuracy, predictable damage, safe weapon. In all seriousness. Who takes anything but a sniper rifle into Nightfall strikes. (Unless its a select few fusion rifles for burns) Ice Breaker is the best and safest weapon for High Difficulty content in my opinion.
