Heavy Melee : Hammers, Swords, Dual Tonfas, Maces....Can't go too wrong in this department cuz they are all fun as hell.
Primary: Dual pistols, auto pistols, small beamed rifles, crossbow like weapons (fires slower projectiles that can impale enemies)
Secondary: Short-ranged element weapons like flamethrowers--though with different elements like ice, void etc; Grenade launchers--like Flamethrowers, could utilize different mechanics and elements; Plasma weapons; Bows
Heavy: Charged Plasma Launchers--Charges to fire a slow but large elemental plasma ball that deals AOE damage during it's flight with various effects; Large Beamed Cannons; Mines with various abilities and elements.
Could also allow enemies on patrols to use such weapons with more variability and randomness to greatly improve grinds and give enemies some depth.
Also, some way to craft weapons would be nice. Such as, finding weapon parts and perks through loot, obtaining certain materials, then going to the gunsmith to design them. Could combine different stocks with different barrels, handles, etc, to form various looks and stats. Even the ability to effect the color and look of it. Doesn't need to be too complex, but just 'open-sourced' to allow some freedom in design. This could be nice to truly differentiate guardians from one another and add content.

Actually I don't lol. Last time I played a Japanese game (or any Japanese related game) was FF 10 when it came out. I just enjoy military history and happen to think of them while I was trying to think of some interesting 'dual' melee weapons aside from the normal swords and all.
