The supposed "evidence" for global warming

Given the substantial amount of evidence for global warming, you'd be a fool to go against the scientific consensus that global warming is happening. But that's really the problem: the evidence. The evidence for global warming relies entirely upon the average climate of the earth hundreds of thousands of years into the past. But how do we get that information? Well it's simple really: we go to the north and south poles and we dig straight down and extract something that we call an ice core (pictured above). The ice core (extracted by a small team of scientists) is transported to a lab (in which another small team of scientists study it). It is of the utmost importance to keep in mind that these individuals rely on global warming phenomenon to keep their jobs and continue their research. But let me ask you something: have you ever seen an ice core yourself? Have you ever gone in and confirmed their information to make sure they're not making it up? Is it not logical to assume that a small group of climate scientists would fudge the data for their own benefit? You blindly follow the cult of global warming without realizing that the small groups of scientists have no credibility for their claims. Granted the evidence is true, then sure, it's clear that the earth must be warming. But without being able to confirm that evidence, the theory of global warming is utterly meaningless, and it should be regarded as so. If you 'believe' in global warming, you are apt to use the term 'believe', because you have to rely on blind faith to support it all.

-facepalm- This... is just pure stupid. 5 fast facts: 1. The climate is constantly changing and happens to be just warming up in the slightest over a period of thousands of years. 2. We did come out of an ice age, and judging by the pattern that we have had(Ice age, Dinos, Ice age...) its logical to assume the earths getting hotter considering we dont have glaciers everywhere, and the entire world is not alaska in the winter. 3. That arguement is flawed in every single way imaginable. You simply just said: "oh well scientists said this about an ice thing, but i havent seen that ice thing so its not real, and neither is that 'reasearch' u guys r stoopid" 4. Yes, i know this is bait. No, i don't care. I'm bored, let me have my fun destroying this thread OP. 5. No the world isn't going to end by global warming, nor will it ever. A damn volcano erupted that spewed out all of the greenhouse gases and that did squat to the world. I do not hug trees and cry like a little liberal because you didn't recycle a water bottle.

    • Ice core has seven letters. 7+17 equals 24 24 divided by 8 equals 3. There are 3 sides in a triangle. The illuminati's emblem is a triangle. The illuminati is confirmed to be assisting scientists to falsify data from ice cores.

      • There is a reason it's called the THEORY of relativity. But anyone who dares question their intentions is treated in a childish manner and labeled a "denier" These scientists mean well but it's a bit of a religion really. Higher taxes is not going to fix it. They wanted that before for other reasons. Now the politicians they use this. For their own purposes. Most people on either side do not look at the facts really. Just what they are told is so.

        • They aren't making it up. The facts are substantiated. It's not a belief. For the past 25 years it's been the hottest year on record globally and every year breaks the record. Sea levels are rising. It's measurable.

          • You are pretty much implying that they are falsifying their reports, or that they don't know wtf they are talking about. But I have to ask, aren't they the experts? Gotta trust the experts, in all things, not just goal warming. Would you ask a plumber to do heart surgery? Or a doctor to fix your bathtub? Or Kanye West about global warming, or a scientist about -blam!-. No, you go to the experts

This same stance allows one to argue the Earth is flat, or that China doesn't exist, or that the Holocaust didn't happen. GG.

                  • Its not a small group. Something like 99% of scientists who study climate change agree it is happening because of our actions. The tiny fraction that don't agree work for the major fossil fuel industry. What a coincidence! Lol

There are a lot of other things I--and likely many others--haven't bothered to go back and confirm, but that is a fair point. I really haven't looked into the debate that much because frankly I lost interest after the world didn't explode immediately after "Inconvenient Truth"

                      • Interesting debate... But there is more evidence than just that. And it's not like one team just says "yep the earth is definitely heating up." Thousands of individuals are studying the earths and how it's changing.

                      • You at one point assert that they owe their jobs because of the idea that the climate is changing. This is nonsense. Scientists study the world to study and learn. Any group that might be biased is looked at with extreme skepticism. The peer review process will hopeful find any fraudulent studies.

                        • That evidence is not taken on blind faith. The entire scientific community asks and asserts questions like these. They compare their own data to others. You're ignoring the peer review process. Scientists are the the most skeptical of the evidence.

                        • Global climate change is the actual deal, parts of earth heat up while others cool down, its all natural we just sped it up a little bit but mother nature likes to show who is really in charge every so often.
we do need to better take of her though or she will show who is in charge

have you ever seen an ice core yourself? Have you ever gone in and confirmed their information to make sure
This is a silly thing to say unless your speaking directly to an educated climate scientist who can analyze the greenhouse gasses in the tiny air bubbles. This is the sort of thing they say on Fox "news" to make their audience believe they'd be somehow qualified to read those samples. There not, all they see is dirty ice. It's also like all those Republican law makers saying "I'm not a scientist" to slither out of environmental questions (remember, these are the same guys who want god in the classroom and literally believe some political rivals are the antichrist LOL). In doing so acknowledging that scientists would know better. Who in their right mind would then go with the assessment of a tiny percentage of mostly religious scientists who's very scientific objectivity is compromised by default? (Unless money and or blind faith has something to do with it.) If you're not a scientist it's probably your best bet to go with what the vast majority of them find, through what we like to call the scientific method, to be fact.
because you have to rely on blind faith to support it all.
Blind faith has nothing to do with it. Science is not fath. Period. Science is about knowledge earned by someone through trial and error experimentation and observation. Faith is by definition being willing/nieve enough to believe in something without anybody having any proof. Its something conservative and religious types use to confuse their followers either out of sheer ignorance of what science and facts really are or just to muddy the waters for political or monetary gain. Faith might be a dangerous thing. I think the fact that so many grown voters have no idea what science and fact are is proof that teaching religion and faith at a young age by presenting it as fact cripples those students ability to think critically later in life. They think differently. Its a fact that their misunderstanding of scienctific value has lead to very deep cuts in real research. These people are holding us back as a spiecies. And in doing so gambling with our very future. After all, if the majority of educated scientists are wrong then no big deal, the worst thing is some oil tycoons dont have quite as much money. If the scientists are right however, the consequences could litterally lead to the end of civilization as we know it. Media is partly to blame for all these conservatives being so dangerously clueless. They get better ratings when they cover something as a competition. There's also this need to devote equal time to both sides of an issue with the news. But this is not how science works. The group of mostly religious "scientists" are a ridiculously small minority, we don't give equal time to the flat earthers. So we should probably question what motives and factors might lead these few denier scientists to come to their aberrant conclusions, and what might make certain right leaning news outlets give them so much credence. This denier crisis is all about conservative lawmakers doing favors for their big oil doners, and whipping up their ignorant constituencies by taking advantage of both their followers religious thought processes and the current us vs them sports team feel of today's politics to say "those guys care about that? Screw them" and that's all it takes to convince them. It's bad enough politics work this way but science is not a team sport. Many of these denier scientists blindly believe in a 2000 year old fairytale which was written to entertain shepherds who had nothing else to think about but rocks and goat pellets. "God will sort it out" they say, and later, when it's too late to make any positive impact they'll just say "those sinners brought gods wrath down apon us". *facepalm* I saw an interview with a "scientist" from the creation museum recently. When the scientific method consistantly comes up with answers that dont fit their religion it's their policy to side with the word of god. These people are not scientists. +5 troll points though, jimmys were russeled :)
