There is no such thing as a 'gay gene'

Right off the bat you should know it's just media headline bait simply because homosexuality makes it extremely difficult to pass on genes to children. But even then, we have a very small understanding of human neurology compared to what we need to know to understand these sorts of things that it's truly an irrelevant endeavor to search for a specific gene that only homosexuals have. Why does the LGBTOMGBBQLOL movement feel that there needs to be some sort of genetic natural-ness to homosexuality in order to make it justifiable? How could you not be under the impression that homosexuals themselves know that being gay is a lifestyle choice and they lie about it and convince themselves otherwise because they know they'd have a much harder time getting support for their cause. Bottom line: There is no gay gene, and if you demand homosexuality is genetic, you are only separating yourself from science.

  • There is no gene but it's also not a choice. Why on earth would anyone choose to be gay in places where you will get ostracized or worse get killed. Why would anyone choose to be gay knowing their family will disown them. The same way no one chooses to be straight, hell you could raise a kid gay and if they were straight they would always go to being straight.

    • I've had quite a few good laughs at the LGBTQLMNOP community. They have behaved in downright absurd ways over the past few years.

    • Funny thing about gays......they cant reproduce o.O so by naturalistic terms.....they are in fact freaks of nature. But you can't deny a practice that has been around as long as religion. I mean where would we be in Alexander the great didnt go nut to butt with his fellow soldiers? Well they'd be so weighed down by swollen testicles they couldn't have fought all those battles successfully

      • There's probably not a single gene that exists for dictating sexuality. So in that sense, you are correct. There are genes for brain structure and hormones. And that's where I suspect a great deal of homosexuality arises from. It's often not a choice a person makes.

            • If being gay is a choice, why do I have such a hard time becoming gay? If being gay is genetic, why do my genes hate me and made me straight?

              • Investigating if homosexuality is (partly) genetic is not stepping away from science. It could still be an explanation. Scientists state that it's a combination of genetic, hormonal and social factors. In other words, they also don't know what's going on. That's why every aspect of it should be investigated.

              • Yes, homosexuals choose to be like that because they enjoy all the hate and discrimination. You're a genius kid.

                    • Just because homosexuality isn't specifically genetic doesn't make it a choice. Stop seeing things in black and white. There have been studies showing significant differences in brain structure and hormone levels of gay and straight brains. Pre-natal hormones are also thought to be of some significance. There are also certain genes that occur much more frequently within the homosexual population. I'm tired of this. I don't understand why people don't just believe me when I say I didn't choose my sexuality. Why would I choose to be hated and made fun of? I wouldn't. It would make things a lot more fun if I were straight. Why can't y'all just leave us alone? We aren't saying it's not a choice because it's easier to get support, we are saying that because it's the truth. Pretty sure none of y'all chose to be straight. What makes you think we chose to be gay?

As a homosexual myself, I would like to speak in response to everyone else's post to this thread. I believe, from my experience of my orientation, that it is a combination of both gene and choice. Sexual drive is a gene every human is born with, however, it is a choice how an individual will accept arousal through development stages of childhood. I am shy, I am anxious, I am quiet. I did not make those decisions to be those things, they just occurred to me in my life and when they did I reacted in a way similar to: "Whoa, this is un-comforting." while some other individual may be thinking, "I enjoy this, yes." And, from there, decides to research more into it, or completely dedicate themselves to an activity or feeling. When choice and gene are mashed together, the outcome is essentially a person's personality which includes opinions. For example, I do not find women attractive in a sexual or romantic way. Yes, those women on magazine covers are gorgeous, but I'm not the one who will be...pleasing myself to their images. My opinion of choice would be men are the more attractive sex. Referring to @SwaguSenpai 's statement about bugs being scary, its similar to how I feel toward women. My experience with women has made me dislike females in sexual/romantic ways. Its not only the reproductive system that's just...gross to me, but it is how they can be too dedicated to one view in a relationship or lifestyle that is hard to work and be flexible with. That is estrogen at it's best and I do not like it's wrath. My genes of sexual interest tell me "male" due to my experiences, however, it is my choice if I want to follow through with those emotions of interest to understand it more...to make sure I truly know what is going on in my mind when I see something that peaks my interest. I apologize for the lengthy post, but I felt strongly about both sides. Also, this...is my first time being open about my orientation online so please keep extreme views to yourself and I will respect you.

                        • There is no one specific gene. There is a mixture of multiple genes that, under certain circumstances, changes sexual attraction.

                          • Genetic, not necessarily. Biochemical? Abso-goddamned-lutely. Research has proven that the brains of L/G/B individuals react differently to stimuli than the brain of a Heterosexual. Both brain patterns are 100% natural, no different than how one individual reacts with aversion to spiders, while another finds them fascinating, with no aversion.

                          • To think that it is a choice defies the most fundamental logic that you as a human are gifted with. Please do not try to start a conflict for the sake of it.
