Toland theory

Toland is one of my favorite parts of the lore. In normal crota, there is a room above the deathsinger where you can see and shoot her but she can't see you. There is an invisible wall blocking it but you can do some parkour to get their. My most recent run of crota, (nobody went up there because it's normal mode) after crota spawned, I saw something up there walking around. It looked like a gatekeeper. No doubt there was a gatekeeper up there. What if crota captured him, corrupted him, changed him and made him a gatekeeper after deathsinger found him? Maybe he was immune to the song because reasons untold (or space magic) so she brought him to crota. Crota saw the potential in this powerful warlock and he wanted that strength on his side. This is why gatekeeper doesn't come out of the pit in hard. Tolands spirit is fighting back, trying to escape and he doesn't want to hurt other guardians.
