I think your mantle thickness might be off by a fair bit based on the chamber of night mission the shard shows a defined material change at around 3m thick perhaps because of the density the mantle wouldn't need to be that thick? Maybe think of it more as skin than armour?

Ah ha! You are the first person to bring up the shard, well done :D Notice on the above image how there is a white layer and a gray layer of overlapping bands. The shard is likely a piece of the white layer. So I guess I'm a bit incorrect in my OP when I say I'm talking about the outermost layer, when I actually mean both the gray overlapping area and the white coating are 1km combined. Edit: I updated the OP to be more specific, thanks mate!

  • Also according to Wikipedia the mass of neutronium is only 4x10^17/m3 and based on what the article states about its half life i'd be using it as an energy core rather than a mantle otherwise the whole earth would be a radioactive ball of molten rock. The electroweak material doesn't really make sense unless it refers to the healing process? Or the method by which the traveller creates life ( I only say this due to the lack of knowledge about electroweak materials) The lead is more likely the mantle material this is based on the colour ( lead oxide) and its radiation protection, necessary for space fairing organisms Just my theory feel free to correct anything :)

  • I went for the greatest density to be found at the center of a neutron star, that other number is probably an average of neutronium densities, and the traveler is so cool I bet he's only settle for the densest stuff B) Also, I think I agree with your lead oxide idea, though we know the traveler already has shielding that could keep any cargo free from dangerous radiation.
