What is RP?

[b][i]Amazing artwork by [url=http://conceptcody.deviantart.com/]ConceptCody[/url] on Deviantart.[/i][/b] For those of us who aren't exactly sure what Lullaby's RP Community is, I thought I'd go through the basic rundown: [b]RP[/b] is an acronym for the act of [b]RolePlay[/b]. [b]By standard definition[/b] This is the acting out or performance of a particular role, either consciously (as a technique in psychotherapy or training) or unconsciously, in accordance with the perceived expectations of society with regard to a person's behavior in a particular context. [b]By way of Game/Internet Context[/b] It is where you take on the persona of your created, fictional character and interact with other characters to progress an improvised story, usually online. The acronyms associated with Gaming/Online RP are: RP: Roleplay, PC: Player Character (That's usually you, or other's characters!), and OOC: Out of Character (To name a few) In this case, where Destiny has already fleshed out a story for us to journey through, creating things like our own paths, personalities, and even back stories are that much easier to accomplish! Now I'll admit, for some who are less than familiar with this it may come off as strange, awkward, or downright unappealing. I would say, give it a try! Attempts never hurt, and no one will point the finger if it's not your cup of tea. But who knows? A different take on enjoying a great game may be just the thing we need to break routine.
