I don't like to post these because they're depressing and make me hate the world we live in, but here I go.
A Superior Court judge who sentenced a wealthy du Pont heir to probation for -blam!- his 3-year-old daughter noted in her order that he "will not fare well" in prison and needed treatment instead of time behind bars, court records show.

Judge Jan Jurden's sentencing order for Robert H. Richards IV suggested that she considered unique circumstances when deciding his punishment for fourth-degree -blam!-. Her observation that prison life would adversely affect Richards was a rare and puzzling rationale, several criminal justice authorities in Delaware said. Some also said her view that treatment was a better idea than prison is a justification typically used when sentencing drug addicts, not child rapists.
Richards' 2009 -blam!- case became public this month after attorneys for his ex-wife Tracy filed a lawsuit seeking compensatory and punitive damages for the abuse of his daughter.
The fact that Jurden expressed concern that prison wasn't right for Richards came as a surprise to defense lawyers and prosecutors who consider her a tough sentencing judge. Several noted that prison officials can put inmates in protective custody if they are worried about their safety, noting that child abusers are sometimes targeted by other inmates.
Richards was no frail defendant, court records show, listing him at 6 feet, 4 inches tall and between 250 and 276 pounds. Nor do court records cite any physical illnesses.
tl;dr: 6'4", ~260 pound wealthy white guy escapes a prison punishment and is put on probation for sexually assualting his three year old daughter because the judge thought that he wouldn't "fare well" in a prison environment
and it gets worse

He probably abused his son too.
-
It probably would be a death sentence in prison, which he wasn't sentenced with.
-
What a piece of crap.

Edited by MoReCoWbELLx2x1: 3/31/2014 8:02:06 PMIt's because of the double standard within our society toward rich and famous people. Also, he would have been killed in prison. Messing with children and women are a general no no among inmates. Inb4itsbecauseheiswhite

R@pe isn't a big deal.
-
Probably a good call. Sounds like the guy has a bad case of affluenza. You can't fault rich white people for things, they have no idea that the world has boundaries, because no one ever stopped them from doing something before.
-
That's exactly why he should be sent to prison.
-
You do realize that fourth degree is less intense than first, right? Straight up -blam!- someone(penis in hole) is first degree, and it goes down from there.
-
Why destroy that nice monitor?
-
This really pisses me off

Edited by xurs cheeky bag: 4/1/2014 2:40:27 AMHe should be in prison. No debate.
-
Money gets you out of anything here in the states. Our justice system is as broken as our health care system.
-
"that bribe money will fare well in my wallet though!"
-
Ugh. Well there's no doubt that this man needs HELP. But the majority of prisoners need help. He should get help WHILE away from society. They all should.
-
Poor kid. That piece of -blam!- needs to be hanged.
-
Oh sweet money, what injustice can't you do!?
-
If someone shot him dead in the street tomorrow, I would think the world was a better place. Scum like this shouldn't be allowed to steal the oxygen of the rest of us.

F*ck that guy.
-
It's a bit like when people get caught with drugs: if you're an average Joe you get sent to prison, but if you're a celebrity or billionaire you "go to rehab".
-
From what I hear, he'd be killed as soon as an inmate found out what he did. Incest pedophilia isn't well received by most people anyway.
-
No way the judge hasn't been paid off. Whenever there's some bs case like this I'm honest to god sure someone was slipped some cash under the table.
-
he would be killed in jail because child -blam!-
-
-blam!-ed up. I know a girl that was -blam!- by her dad when she was younger, don't know the details but I know he's not in prison now. I just don't get it.

Why don't they just put him in the electric chair then?
