I ask because I've been referred to one to help deal with my depression. I'm just wondering if anyone here has experienced it and if it helped and what not. I need to wait for a call to see where it'll be at and so on but I have mixed feelings. I feel nervous but also like it could really help. So yeah

If they put you on cipralex for the depression, expect to have great difficulty whenever you try to fap. But, yeah on a more serious note, I did go to counselling for OCD. All that happened was that the guy kept on throwing his pen on the ground and made me hold it for an indefinite period of time and then I had to touch the dusty table and try restraining myself from running to the washroom and obsessively washing my hands. Hopefully your experience is better. ^^ It's also kind of awkward, you get asked a lot of personal questions by someone you barely know. I found it kind of uncomfortable.

Yep I have been to a psychologist I took the best approach said hi and stared into the distance

Yes. It's dumb. Don't bother.
-
Do it, they will help you "get better" through counselling or medication.
-
No, because I don't belong in the looney bin.

My writing teachers in high school got me sent to counseling several times. All the counselors thought I was perfectly normal and mentally healthy. They really aren't good at picking out liars.

Look at this sexy girl

Psychologist was required because of what I wrote for an assignment in school. Almost got kicked out of the school district because of it.

Whip out your junk and start fapping. They LOVE that shit.

I never have because Im always afraid that the best help they will offer is medication.

Edited by Cart of Onions: 8/8/2013 3:14:14 PMI had one once, it wasn't bad at all. Although I don't remember much, I was 5 or 6 at the time. Don't be afraid if they offer medication, it's normal, I think.

They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said nooo, nooo, no!

Family counseling Psychiatrist counseling for ADD meds Psychologist counseling for ADD Psychologist visits for counseling for depression Suicide prevention counseling Alcoholism counseling Counseling to cope with my parents' divorce when I was a kid. You name it, I've been forced to awkwardly sit in a comfy chair and talk one-on-one with a professional about it.

Na, although it has been recommended for me since my dad died. But I never felt I needed counselling. I just need a goal or something I really want to do, a liberal arts n science degree from a community college isn't really inspiring me, so although I could easily get an A in everything, I don't. I need something else!

Can't say I have. I've never really been one to get down in that sense. But getting down to dance I do all the time.

I have, back when I was depressed a few months ago. It helped, but not a lot. At the very least, it helped me discover the source of my depression.

I went for separate issues years apart a long time ago. I can't say it did me a ton of good. Perhaps it was just the counselor or perhaps it was me. I suppose my main advice if you use a counselor is this: be as open as possible. If you've got issues you've got to share them. It's not like I was holding back a lot with mine, but the circumstances were somewhat complicated in both my tries at it due to some major family issues and that did lead to me not using the counselor to the fullest of his potential. I was antsy about dumping out what I felt and I'd warn you or anyone else against making that mistake. Also, how old are you? I have the sneaking suspicion, from my own experience and nothing more, that counseling as an adult might be more effective than as a youth despite the old dogs and new tricks saying.

yeah but it didn't help me out not to say it can't help anyone else out talking about your problems is a great way to come to terms with your problems and move foward

I have not been to counselling, it seems difficult to get into as I would not ask to do so since that would be weird. You're lucky you were referred.
-
Yes, it didn't go well both times I went on the premise that nothing got done. I admit that it was my fault though.
-
I haven't

I've gone to counseling Let's just say I still get the urge to stab people every now and then
