Any of you guys have a good way to get ascending shards?

I need a lot!!! They come from raids or strikes?

    Saw a stream last night and a guy said he got his by dismantling legendary or exotic gear. Not sure how he ended up with a surplus of those items, but I have to hang on to the few items I have right now.
