Activity on Destiny is monitored via Destiny Tracker and any player that hasn't played the game for 3 months or longer will be removed so that we can keep an active group.     I think I may have mentioned this in a previous post but you can manage your psn account which includes sending/receiving friend invites using the Sony playstation app on a smartphone. May save you having to go through loads of friend request just after setting up the console
