Six Californias

3 RepliesWhy is always California that's to large to be governed? Texas and Alaska are much larger, but no one ever wants to split them into into a bunch of smaller "more manageable" states. [spoiler]It's a ploy to break up a major democratic voting block into smaller more manageable pieces so that the Republicans can win a few of them. The reason you don't see it with Texas at the moment is because it's largely a red state. However if it ever becomes blue like some political analysts believe it will you'll start seeing similar calls to break up Texas into smaller states too. [/spoiler]

1 ReplyWe should just sell Cali to China. You know the Chinese would really like a foothold on this continent, and would buy up Cali really quickly if it was put up for sale. Perfect for shipping routes and incorporating Silicon Valley into the Chinese business paradigm. They would probably pay whatever the asking price was too. I'm sure Californians would not like it initially, but they seem to accept whatever life hands them eventually. Losing Hollywood would probably be a good thing for the U.S.A. because what have they done for us to warrant their continued existence and protection lately? Nothing. Losing Silicon Valley would be a bigger problem, but a good portion of that is moving to Texas and Idaho now anyway, so they would recover. The big problem would be losing Cali's agricultural empire. That is far and away the most valuable thing in Cali's arsenal, and we would definitely miss that. Oh well. To make an omelet and all that.

It doesn't really need to split into several different states. Just divvy up the power between different administrative regions and have the existing government in an "oversight" function.
