This is so messed up. This is why the increasing secularization of America concerns me since it will all lead to things like this, blatant religious persecution.

A lot of you can't seem to differentiate between "DQ'd for pointing to God" and "DQ'd for making post-race gestures that are clearly outlined in the rules as a disqualifiable event"
-
That's a stupid rule. Wait, you don't even need to make up a stupid reason to be outraged about this. It's stupid as it is.
-
Saw this the other day...or was it the day before? I dunno. Anyway, it seemed like a stupid thing to disqualify someone over, let alone a whole team.
-
This is a bad thread and you should feel bad.

Way to twist the facts. He was disqualified for making a celebratory gesture. It had nothing to do with religion. Though not being allowed to celebrate a victory is a pretty idiotic rule, too.

Wow what a slanted stor-...Oh fox news.

Finish him

Damn him to hell!

Fleshjack still exists?

Was the exclamation point really necessary? OT: Rules are rules. In New Jersey, I'm not sure if this rule is consistent throughout the US, members of the same relay team are not allowed to wear different colored underwear. If you do, you face immediate disqualification.

Edited by Eternal Way: 5/6/2013 9:35:53 PMI would have been ecstatic if he was actually banned for that.
-
How do you point at something that doesn't exist?
-
It's dumb, but it has nothing to do with secularization or religion. Celebratory gestures of any kind aren't allowed.
-
Dey see me flyin' dey pointin'.
-
That's retarded.

They weren't disqualified for pointing to God, they were banned for what that sport deemed as 'excessive celebration,' if he'd fist pumped, they still would have been banned.
-
state scholastic rules that prohibit excessive celebrations, which “include raising one’s hands.”
Religious persecution my ass.
-
Remember, atheist don't want you to push your religious beliefs on them, but they are on a mission to rid the world of religion. Remember, the democrats are on a war against Christianity but support and protect Muslims and Hindus. It's pretty -blam!-ed up right now.
-
But nothing's up there but atmosphere...
-
Oh Obama what ya doing now?
-
muh persecution complex
-
It had nothing to do with the religious significance of the gesture. It had everything to do with the rule bout no celebratory gestures, religious or not, being allowed. This story is flame bait.
-
He should have said he was trying to scratch his ear, but missed it.
-
I really like how the title and subject are incredibly biased. Too bad you posted a link which undermines you entire point. They disqualified the team not because he was religious but because the rules forbid any excessive celebratory gestures/acts.

I would like to see a recording of him crossing the finish line. Was it a celebration, then passed off as "but I was thanking God" in attempt to mitigate the damage? Also, I find it silly when athletes prostrate themselves after God grants them touchdowns, or crossing the finish line first while the same God allows natural disasters and famine to take so many.

Okay, who doesn't raise their hands after winning a race?
