What it solves is the issues of porn spammers and people who don't give a crap about other people, because no matter what kind of crap they spew, they could just make another alt.
This forces people to either be decent, or not be able to participate in the community.
If older members really want to still be able to post here, they can download the demo and make a character. But this is the right decision. This is for the "greater good."

The people who it is targeting are already finding ways around this system. Linc has already bragged about beating this system and being able to keep the alts it was meant to get rid of.

There is no way to prevent people from making alts, all they can do is keep adding layers that people have to go thru to make an alt. Either way, those that want to go around it, will. Some people just have nothing better to go with their time & resort to having multiple accounts/personalities.

It'll stop spur of the moment alts at least. And the less tryhard spammers/trolls might be lessened, even if the worst ones will still be around.

No it won't, Lincoln posted how to get around it in his group & he has over 70 alts. This honestly did nothing but kick off the long term members that don't play it

You can get around it by downloading the demo and playing it on several accounts. That is a slightly more involved step than before, so people can't just make alts willy nilly from their phones and the less committed trolls might not feel like doing it. I know It won't change much in general though.

Sure, it'll take a few minutes longer, but I imagine a lot of people will take this as a challenge. From the look of your profile, you've been here around the same amount of time as I have. Remember pre-Destiny Bungie? Remember the mods and their iron fist? You had to be somewhat respectable then. Even trolls had to play it smart. Certainly not now. I can't say from experience, anyway.

Oh, okay. Well, you'll just have to take our word for it then. The mods were (well, I'm sure they still are) pretty good people who didn't take no rubbish. There were mistakes every now and then, and people didn't always get along with them, but they did a hell of a job. Now they've essentially been spayed and neutered and can only watch as all they've done over the years is forgotten seemingly without a care by the people that gave them the opportunity in the first place.
