I have no opinion on this situation, but I legitimately want to ask this. Why do users make alts?
I understand one guy does it to spam nsfw MLP images for whatever reason, and one guy does it to be overly offensive and still be able to post under the same name, but are there any good reasons? Does it provide any benefit other than being extra super anonymous?

a long time ago (back in halo and before destiny released) people would post religious and political posts. This would get them banned since those posts were against the rules (yes believe it or not, the religious and political posts that spam offtopic were one illegal). So if you had an alt you can post your political ideology onto the forum without the fear that your main would get banned.

Because the users that are popular are often reported more than they should be, which results in unjustified bans. Alts insure that they will always have a way to access the forums. Or if they are porn spammers, it means (meant) they were virtually invincible, and could never truly be banned

Gets you around bans. There aren't really legitimate reasons beyond making mischief.
