Whispers of Beyond "Momma? Where are you? Where did you go? Momma?" The woman looked into the sphere of chaos and power, frozen in time, with its bright white light shining upon her in a glorious manner. She stared at the child inside, with her white her and glowing blue eyes, transfixed. "Shh," the woman said, "It's okay. You're safe now. It'll be okay. We'll be okay. I love you, Anna..." ------------------------------- Caroline stumbled through a foreign place, a place with black structures and snowflakes and jagged rock. The sky was grey. Grey like another world. She didn't know what it was, or what it would be. All she knew is that she was lost. "Drake? Alpha? Anyone?" She said, stumbling about. "Is anyone there?" She would then approach some sort of structure, towering over her in size and stature. Whatever this place was, she had never seen it before. "Hello?" She called out, but to no avail. Her voice echoed across the rock and wind, but nothing answered. Caroline then chose to step inside. In the center of the room she stood in was a black machine, with wires that pulsed with red energy connecting to both the floor and the ceiling. Yet, amidst the machine was something else. A black stone throne. And upon it, a woman. With a child in her arms... "...And the world began to slumber, beneath the falling stars." The woman sung as she looked down upon the child, her black hair flowing. Her face seemed beautiful yet seemingly unrecognizable. As if she both had form yet didn't. As if whatever it was didn't want Caroline to remember. "And the moon began to sing it song, upon the worlds of men. Yet that was all it said... She stopped, looking at Caroline from her cold throne. Her full appearance she couldn't remember, but there was one thing. The woman's eyes glowed red. And the burned into the soul. "Oh Caroline," the woman said, dropping her singing voice for one of shadowy echoes. "Look at you. What you've done." The baby vanished into dust, and red energy began to crackle in the woman's hands. "Let me show you something." --------------------------------- An altar, a city, a pyramid in the sky. A girl. All of it was images. Images now. Chaos and uncertainty. Then the drifted to a solid setting of blackness. Cold, desolate blackness. "Is anyone there?" She called out, her voice echoing across the void. "Hello?" Then she realized where she was. A field of the dead. People she loved, people she cared about, people she had... killed. In some way or another. "Caroline?" Someone said in front of her. She seemed... familiar. She was... Caroline? She heard whispers, conversations, things. The yard of corpses she was standing in flicker in and out of existence. Images and faces. None of it made any sense. Yet in its flashing it focused on one experience. Red energy was crackling in her hands, and her mirror image was pointing a gun to her head. "Look what you've done." It said, it voice growing darker and more distorted with each word. "Look at the pain and misery you have brought upon this world." More images, more experiences, more of her life. And words. A phrase, hiding amidst the whispers. Kill him. And be free. Then, one last time, she saw her own face, strange and distorted. Red eyes, and a gun put to Caroline's head. "And now is the time of retribution." ------------------------------------------- Andromeda-09, Concordian Orbit, Tatakai's Moon Caroline awoke terrified in large bedroom suite, which was almost confusing since the methodology in which Frontier had held her had not been so... comfortable in the past. Next to her was a woman, with short blond hair and blue eyes. "Shhh. It's alright. You're okay now." The woman said calmly. "Who the -blam!- are you?" Caroline responded angrily, a look of pure hatred in her eyes. "Let me out of here. NOW." "Give it time. Stay calm. Just... rest. I'll tell you everything. Soon. Sleep now." Sedatives were sent coursing into her body, and she begun to drift. ------------------------------------ Dojo Woods, Tatakai In the midst of wreckage of some sort of battle, a small Frontier crew patrolled the area, along with an Atlas-Titan. "Scan for life signs." A grunt, presumably the leader, said to his men. "If they're here, we'll find them."
Open to everyone!
--------------------------------- A signal, coming from a site far west of the Dojo. Caroline. She had gone missing during the conflict between Frontier and a few of the Arrowhead crew, but it had seemed she had managed to communicate. Even if it was a trap, it would sure be interesting.
Open for Ginger. I never got a reply from anyone on that post, so here is the approximate aftermath. If you'd like. You can comment to either.
• "Well, you took a bounty on my head... tried to kill me... tortured me..." Drake sarcastically starting putting up fingers, counting their transgressions with each finger. After he finally stopped listing offenses, he nodded, "Yeah, I'd say that you're the enemy here."

 • She chuckled, glancing out into space. "Has this question ever been posed to you before? 'Would you sacrifice one person to save the lives of many?'" She said, glancing at the planet that floated in the distance. "You were a threat, Drake. At least, we thought you were. A third party. That is, at least something made us believe that."

 • "Now why would you ever think that?" Drake said innocently, and slightly mockingly. Truth be told, he'd never believed in the greater good, unless it pertained to himself.

 • She sighed, turning back towards him. "This situation is of a greater magnitude than you can possibly imagine." She said, her voice a little... fearful for a moment. "Sure, our methods are questionable, but we have a cause. Come with me. I need to show you something." The door opened, and she had begun to walk out, gesturing for him to follow.

 • Drake followed, genuinely curious about her motivations. Everyone had some sort of explanation to cover up their crimes: hell, he was a smuggler because he was good at pretending to be right. But even the darkest, most chaotic evil had their stories... and Michael Drake didn't sympathize the devil.

 • "Have you ever entertained the concept that something was responsible for the creation of our worlds?" She asked, as they walked down the hallway. "Or, at least, that their was some sort of race that inhabited some such as Tatakai before us?" The woman stopped her chain of questions when she came across a lieutenant standing at an intersection. "Ma'am," the man said, "The Outer District of Starlight City is being bombarded, with the Resistance base being primarily targeted." "Dammit. Would you tell those idiots down there to at least send in an extraction crew?! We have valuable cargo down there. If anything happens..." "Yes ma'am." The lieutenant departed, and the woman continued to the elevator.

 • Drake glanced over in the direction of the lieutenant, making silent note of the message the man had relayed. After the man had left, he merely shrugged. “I’ve had to smuggle terraforming equipment before. I’ve seen corporations build worlds before... what they do with them is above my pay grade. In case your files didn’t tell you, I’m not much of one to question how things come about unless I can profit off of it.” He mentioned her files with a certain amount of scorn, as if he were, again, subtly mocking her. In fact, Drake seemed to be intentionally misunderstanding her—but he knew that she wasn’t exactly talking about corporations here.

 • "Do you think this is a joke Drake?" The woman said angrily, as the elevator started to move upward. "If you even gave the slightest shit about anyone you have ever known, you'd stop with the bullshit and just listen." The elevator stopped, opening up to some sort of... dark observation room. A hologram of the planet floated in the center of it, displaying key locations and orbital movement patterns.

 • Drake didn’t really pay her much attention, and instead focused on the hologram of Tatakai. “So, you’re saying that something created Tatakai? And lemme guess: whatever this something is, it’s dangerous.”

 • "It's a bit more complicated than that." She said, moving over to the hologram and adjusting it. "You see. The natives of Tatakai, the people it created, rebelled against it. It's been asleep for thousands of years, and if it wakes up..." She adjusted it a little bit more to where it revealed a sort of... thing. The edges of some sort of complex device on the surface of the planet. Built a very long time ago. "We're all going to die. And you won't know what you've done to cause it until It's staring you in the face, contemplating if you should exist or not."

 • After a while of contemplating, Drake seemed to be taking things considerably more seriously. He stroked his chin with his prosthetic hand as he studied the display, and listened to the woman speak. “Where do I come into all this?” He finally asked. “You could’ve hired any of the mercenaries in Tatakai... yet you decided to kidnap me. Why?”

 • "Because you're already a part of it. A part of her... err... I mean Its plan." She said, moving to computer terminals on the side and typing in a data input. "Caroline..." She trailed off. "Come with me. I need you to see something else."
Does Drake have an earpiece?
•
He would unless Frontier took his out.
This had Drake's mind racing. He'd done a lot of things in the last few years, true, but Frontier had seemingly appeared out of nowhere after Caroline's arrival. There was presumably a chance that they'd had their sights on him before he came into contact with her... but this was definitely some conspiracy. Drake didn't trust this woman one bit.

 •
They didn't
"Shit." She said, as the computer screen glitched an the hologram shut down. "No. NO! Fuсk! FUСK!" She looked at the machine. "Someone in the system just tried to purge our planet data. My explanation is going to be put a little on hold for the moment. Until we find out who it is, I'm putting you back in your room." He suddenly got really sleepy, as a device implanted on his leg had already begun to administer sedatives. Within moments, he was out cold. -------------------------------- He would wake up back in the room he started in, locked in with no one else there. That is, excluding the voice that came over his earpiece. "Rise and shine, kid." The man said, an almost rouge accent to his voice. "What? You'd think I'd just let Frontier feed you a bunch of bullshit? Nah. I needed to talk to you alone."

 • “Ugh...” Drake held a hand to his head, feeling exceptionally groggy as he became conscious. Something about these sedatives were really bothering him, to the point where it felt like he heard a voice in his head. It took him a few seconds to realize that there actually was a voice in his head. Drake shook his head slowly, trying to clear his distracted mind. “Yeah, well, I’m locked in a bedroom in some top-secret facility. That’s about as alone as I can get.” As with the woman, Drake instinctively didn’t trust the man, but he was still willing to hear him out.

 • "Yeah well, I did that. And I also cut off the observation of this room so you can speak freely. Your welcome." He said, taking on an almost ironic 'John-from-IT' voice for no apparent reason. "Name's Jay. Err... that's what they call me anyway."

 • “Alright Jay, I’m assuming you have a plan here.” Drake said wryly, idly strolling throughout the room as they talked. “What’s the next move?”

 • "Okay." The voice said, "I'm going to get you out of here, but first... I need you to do something. I'll guide you to the central database access console in the mainframe, where you'll download a few vital Frontier files for me. Along with them, you'll download an authorization data key that will allow you to get to where they're holding Caroline. Then, you'll both (or at least one of you) will make your way to the ship's main A.I. core, where you'll plug in a bug that should cause an immediate shutdown of all local Frontier systems on Concordia. Then, you'll be free to walk out. Sound alright?"
