All quiet on the western front...
6 days. It had been 6 days since the last recorder contact with the outer ring colonies. Considering how far away they were, any message normally would be received much later, but this was different. 5 colony worlds ranging from Mercury sized to twice the size of earth all went silent, all at once, all sending no distress signal. Receptions was getting worried. Rebel movements were common in far out colonies, but usually we're much less organized, and still held communication for obvious reasons. Something was not right. A meeting of planet emergency was called, calling all those with a fleet to the table. The goal was simple, find out the problem, get rid of it. First, however, a brief was given on the planets that went dark. Dranea: A Mercury sized planet famous for its scientific advances in oceanology. 94% of the planet is water. It is in the open, and would be an easy first target due to lack of defenses. Kalea: The geography division's planet has not seen organized human life in years. Deemed inhabitable due to intense heat and winds, only a small population of scientists remains. Their work has had little success. New Wandilo: A massive desert planet the size of earth, home to a large population of criminals and runaways. 30% of the planet is made of water, so they often resort to imports from Dranea. Wandilo: An overcrowded, Venus sized planet. It is just like earth in every way but it's wild life and geography. A perfect place to live, if there wasn't 10 people waiting at every toilet. Darengar: Possibly the most puzzling, this military research planet should have immediately contacted reception if anything strange was going on. Made mostly of cold oceans and Mountains, this planet is twice the size of earth. The massive asteroid belt around it is great for testing dangerous weapons with little consequence. Those were the five planets, each with their own quirks and population... And each with their own silence. The meeting leader pronounced that such a threat would require the help of the larger factions, and he called them to action. Each faction would divide to take one or two planets, with what they felt necessary to bring. Hopefully, it wouldn't be much that they needed.
Alright! Who's ready to make an alliance of armies?! Not me ._. So listen up, each planet will have its own fleet listed here. Any ??? Are things that need to be genuine surprises and will be kept hidden. I'll list out the strength, and you choose the planet to go to with what you believe to be an equal force. (Gotta have a fun fight.) Dranea: Possibly the easiest planet, only 15 Yavisk frigates block out it's signals. There also seems to be radio interference combing from a ??? Ship. Kalea: One Yorshka class heavy destroyer, 15 Yavisk frigates. New Wandilo: Two Yorshka class heavy destroyers, 20 Yavisk Frigates. Wandilo: Four Yorshka class heavy Frigates 30 Yavisk frigates and one ??? suspected due to radio interference. Darengar: Seven Yorshka class heavy destroyers, 50 Yavisk Frigates, 3 ???, and one ???. Come! Let us duke it out among the stars!
• "Investigate? That's a funny way to say 'devour'." He shrugged with open hands, being fully honest. "I get your deal. 100%, all transparent. You want to eat. You know, it's surprisingly easy to understand a zealot. Oh, that's not an insult. That's just my job. My job is to understand whoever I'm talking to. How their mind works, what their motive is. I see what yours is. And judging from how you cut off several planets from an interstellar republic, I can only assume you have the means to ends. That accent of yours. Russian? Interesting. Would you like to know my other job? It's finding a common language to negotiate in. I've discovered that there's one common tongue that everyone understands. Pain. But it seems that you already understand that language, burning your follower alive just to talk to me. On one hand, I'm flattered. On the other, I'm impressed. The mind of a devotee is easy to understand but still quite commendable. I'm guessing your culture is quite accustomed to pain, yes?"

 • "Pain... Yes, we are. See the person in front of you- see his pain. When one feels pain, they have a desire above all others, to make it stop. This desire is so strong, so powerful that men and woman will murder to achieve their wills. They hunger for this... Solution to their pain." By now, it was clear the follower was nearly dead, his arms and one leg off, but still calm, the occasional twitch sending of ashes across the floor. "Another time, another place, humans saw into my plans, attempted to ward me off by getting rid of all desires- Budism? Boodlism? Something along those lines, but they lacked the willing followers." At the end on the sentence, the follower screamed and turned to ash, spreading its dead remains across the metal floor. Quickly, the captain of the ground smacked another one onto the runes, and the same event happened, with fire, ash and... Pain. "So yes- pain is understood."

 • The man in the suit just shook his head, making a clicking sound with his tongue. "No, no, no. That's not pain. To you guys, I think that's just a part of life. Ingrained in culture, like the same way a diabetic pricks himself to check his blood sugar. Not pleasure - at least I don't think you're the Cenobite type. Yes, it is pain. But is it actual pain? The type that is truly repulsive to your kind? I don't think so. The type of pain that makes followers cringe from their pantheon at the thought of it. Say... well, would you be able to see through the eyes of your follower if I made him experience what I'm talking about? I only want to come to a complete understanding. Not from me to you - no, that was done a while back. I want you to understand me."

 •
If your faction has space/naval capabilities, choose a planet to investigate with a force you think matches the one in the spoiler. Essentially it's the introduction of a faction that requires a coalition to stop.
