The Empress' New Clothes...
Eris had placed an order for something very special. It was a traditional item to her people, or garment for that matter. Many would expect due to her past, she would despise her 'people', but she wasn't referring to the ones who owned her for many years. No, she meant what many would call 'Werekin', her actual race. When they were hunted down and persecuted and enslaved, many took up the mantle to protect others. They became known as Valguan , Or "Wereguard" in her tongue. They were the ones Eris aspired to replicate, what she had been more or less trained to be.
She had a newfound confidence with the new armour and gear. On her legs were metal plates that seemed to hug her legs, a shining silver. The dark purple material similar to her usual black coverings could be seen at the joints, tougher than the usual coverings, though still leaving the toes uncovered with a metal plate on the foot. The plates looked as if they would split apart, and in the case she sifted they would, and reveal hidden extras to make the armour work even then. Around her waist was a purple sash, coming down over her back right side with the symbol of a shield with beast face on it. Continuing, her stomach was bare, dark purple war paint running across it in strange patterns. Her left arm was covered by a large metal gauntlets that covered all but the fingers, the left showing the warpaint again with the hand hand lower arm having a gauntlet as well. Her upper chest was covered by a metal plate, again looking very durable. Many would see the weak points fo the arm and stomach, but with her agile fighting style and enhanced strength and speed it would be hard to hit these spots, plus Eris' enhanced durability and minute healing factor she could survive a stab there. She grinned as she wore the new armour, with a larger knife strapped to her lower back, and a sword that looked like a Falx with a straighter tip was in her hand. She usually didn't show as much skin as this, especially removing her coverings even on just one arm, though she didn't mind it with the pride that came with wearing the armour.
She didn't even notice the other person approaching her.

"Oooh~! Shiny!" Bedlam chuckled as he appeared beside Eris, leaning on her with an arm resting on her shoulder while he ate an apple held by the other arm. "What's with the tin can?"
-
"Hey Bedlam." She said happily, turning to face him as he appeared. "The armour is something of a story from my people. They were a group that protected people when we were hunted down. They risked their lives to save others. I have the armour in hopes I can try and replicate them somehow."
-
"Oh, so it actually means something? Huh. Well, it definitely looks good on you." Bedlam took a step back, looking up and down at Eris' armor. "You gonna be goin' out to try and protect people or somethin'?"
-
"Not necessarily in the armour, but yes in a sense. It's a reminder, to help people no matter who they are. The same way my mother and father had." She said, looking at the sash on the gear. "The Valguan were a major part of the culture for my kind, and even before then the armour like this was used for both fighting and ceremony."
-
He nodded, actually interested in the topic. "Were your parents a part of the Valguan?"
-
"Yes. My father became part when he was 16, just as he came of age he chose to join. Many didn't think he'd survive, but he did and even rose high into the ranks. My mother joined a bit later, also by choice. I'd argue to say she was scarier than my father when she fought. Or, at least from what I heard from stories."
-
"Oh, so that sounds awesome. I bet they'd be mighty proud of you Eris. You've already done a lot with helping people around here learn how to fight."
-
"Thank you. Though if possibly, I'm not finished helping people yet. People are still coming to the school so I think I'm doing something right." She said happily.
-
"I'm glad you're happy, Eris. Not a lot of people get to be happy around here. Too many people linger on the past and forget they're in the present." He chuckled.
-
"Only way to fix anything is to focus on the present and the future. You can't change the past, only fix the damage it caused."
-
"I know, right? I guess people have a hard time accepting what has happened and trying to fix it rather than linger. I try to help as many as I can, but not everyone is willing to accept help."
-
"It's a lot easier to say 'if I had done this everything wouldn't have happened' because you don't need to do anything. The hard part is accepting it happened and picking up the pieces."
-
"Very true. I always try to look into the hopeful future where everything works out." He sighed. "Sometimes I lose sight of that though."
-
"We can all lose sight of it, but hey, so long as we get back on track it's fine." She said, smiling a bit. "Actually, speaking of being on the right track, how are you and your special someone doing?"
-
Bedlam seemed hesitant. "I...don't know. She's not around that much, her Ghost is jealous as hell, and her family is...special. She's also so stuck in the past and hardly shows any excitement when we're together. I just don't know."
