Destiny: Legend Untold Chptr 8 Pt 1

For all who aren't aware, there is now a table of contents for Legend Untold and will now be a link to it at the bottom of each chapter. I apologize for the long wait for chapter 8, I hav been very busy with school and preparing to MOVE TO SPAIN! I hope to meet many new Guardians over there and I bid farewell to the Guardians of America, I will return someday. Enjoy the new chapter and wish me luck! Chapter Eight: Fireteam Part One We finally emerged from the building, piles of ash and bone as well as the bodies of Fallen strewn through the hallways and rooms behind us. Before us lay a a slope leading up past a building and between some ridges until it was level with higher ground. On the higher ground lay the remains of helicopters and old shacks...and something else. Among broken columns and the ruble of a building lay a tall structure with a wicked and spiked look. It resembles a giant mace and looked like it had fallen out of the atmosphere and bashed in the building it now lay in the remains of. There were enemies. Fallen stood among the helicopters and at the very top of the slope, which was topped by another large building, while Hive rushed out of the large object and controlled the area around it. They were fighting, holding out against each other and trying to get an edge on controlling the area. My Ghost appeared by my head as we walked forward into the area, too far away still to be noticed by the Hive and Fallen. "Oh my," he said, looking around, "The Hive are more deeply seeded here than I had hoped. The Guardians will be working long and hard to clear just this area." I continued wandering forward, analyzing the skirmish up ahead, and therefore didn't notice when Sierra grabbed my Ghost or hear what they said. "Hey! Don't-!" My Ghost complained. "Shhh!" Sierra quieted him. "Don't manhandle me," my Ghost finished grumpily, but kept his voice low. Sierra let go of him and let him float in front of her. "What's William's deal?" She asked in a hushed tone, "The whole time we've been here he's been avoiding the Fallen and his aim has been horrible! I killed every Fallen in that building!" "Yes, I've noticed, and I believe he's missing vital spots on purpose," my Ghost responded. John appeared by them and asked, "Why would he do that?" "I don't know, but ever since I revived him he's tried to avoid using his gun and never aims to kill if he has to use it. The Hive are the only things that I've seen him actually try to take down, and that's because he knows he has to," my Ghost answered. "Seriously?" Sierra and John asked in unison. "Yes. He's only killed a couple Fallen since I revived him, they were all in the city in Europe and he's not aware that he killed them; he was still getting used to the strength Guardians have. I'm worried about how he'll react if I told him that," he told the pair. "What kind of Guardian doesn't fight Fallen?" Sierra asked, looking up the slope at me. That's when I noticed they weren't at my side and turned around. "What are you guys doing back there?" I called. "Apparently him," my Ghost said, then disappeared. John disappeared into his Guardian's armor matrix as well while Sierra walked up to me. "We were talking about the Hive up here," she told me. "Oh, well we should probably keep moving. We won't go unnoticed for long," I said. She caught up and we started walking up the slope together, getting our guns ready for the fight. "Actually, this is the area we figured the activity was sourced from," she told me, "So we just have to clear things up here, then we can head back to the Tower." "Okay then," I said and nodded. "I'd love to venture around and shoot more aliens," she sighed, "But wandering through unknown Hive territory is a little riskier than I'd like." Then an Acolyte walking around the Hive structure turned and spot us, raising its gun in the air and letting out a warning shriek. The Hive that weren't currently fighting shifted their gazes to us, and the unengaged Fallen followed their gazes, beginning to chatter amongst each other. Some Thrall began running at us while the other enemies readied their weapons. "I'll cover our left and keep the Hive back, you cover the right," I told Sierra. "I'll handle the Fallen again," Sierra muttered thoughtfully. "What?" I asked, not able to hear what she said over the sounds of our guns, which were now firing at anything in sight. "I said "just start shooting at them"," Sierra said more loudly. I laughed at that and we continued to blow through the enemies. Splitting off, Sierra ran to the helicopter pad to take down the Fallen and few Hive that were there, while I climbed the slope and defeated the remaining Hive. After the Hive were down I rushed at the few Fallen left in the building at the top of the slope, my shield holding against their weak fire, then punched them out quickly. Sierra and I met back up a short ways down from the top of the slope. "Well that wasn't so-" the shrieks of Thrall and Acolytes cut me off. "Bad," I finished, pointing my gun at the opening of the Hive structure. They sprinted out, going straight for the only enemies they could see. Most didn't make it far at first, but their numbers and eagerness to charge us made it hard to keep them bottled up at the structure's exit. Then a deep roar echoed from the structure and a larger Hive ran out among the others. It stood a couple of feet taller than the Acolytes and bore the same bone armor, but had far more of the armor covering its whole body and wielded a giant sword. The sword was almost as long as I was tall and nearly as wide as me, too. It's edge was blunt as if it had never been sharpened, but I had a feeling it could cut through me with ease, especially considering the force that it could be swung with. It ran forward in the midst of several other Hive, seemingly unaffected by the few shots that managed to get past the bodies in front of it. By the time we finally cut down the Hive in front of it, it was already upon us. The sword swung at me, cleaving through the air; I couldn't dodge, I had let it get too close. My breath was knocked away and I sailed backwards into a busted column, then slid to the ground, my shield down and my body aching. The beast took a couple swings at Sierra, but she managed to avoid them and jumped backwards to my position. As I got up I checked out my Ghosts scans and saw that the Hive was called a Knight and its sword was... Wow, a Cleaver? I thought, Why does it have to be named so well? As I got back up, a glowing blue orb appeared in Sierra's hand, an orb that I recognized as a grenade Guardians could make with their Light from my time in the Crucible. She threw the grenade and it hit halfway between her and the Knight, splitting into three separate pieces on contact. The three new bits bounced into the air and began seeking out the Knight, shooting straight at it. But the Knight was ready. It waved its hand up in front of itself and a large shield appeared, floating above the ground in front of it and large enough to hide the Knight behind it. The shield was made of some black, stone-like material with fire dancing around its edges; the grenades exploded against it harmlessly. After a moment the shield went down and the Knight brandished its sword, starting to walk towards us. We pointed out guns at it, about to fire. Then something odd happened. _____________________________________ Link to ToC:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212710816/0/0 Link to Chapter 7 Part 2:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/211904317/0/0 Link to Chapter 8 Part 2:https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212774039/0/0
