April Update: What we have so far

Alright... Tuesday has come and gone and we are on the third day of the April Update. All over the forum, I am seeing either: "OMG BUNGIE MICRO-TRANSACTION HELL!" Or "I hate this game, I'm quitting [and/or] not coming back" and the ever popular "it's just a game and the update was free, quit b****ing". This style of mentality in the community does next to nothing in helping Destiny and it's creators move forward in actually fixing things. And for this I feel I have to make a post saying these things. ***This post will be speaking on MY IMPRESSION of the game, good or bad, and I will try to critique what I think needs to be critiqued and praise what needs to be praised. This will also be long winded so suck it up those who don't read. I encourage you to do the same instead of simply hating one aspect or hating those who hate that aspect*** 1. Prison of Elders: This one is an iffy spot as I have yet to complete the 42 due to a friend not being able to get on. However I have seen the 41 playlist... and it's the same as last time... with a Taken version randomly thrown in there to spice things up. Don't get me wrong, I love PoE because it's PvE content and I like just gunning things down for fun. That fact still doesn't change the reality that not a lot of new things were added except some bosses, a dead Ghost, and not having to need treasure keys to open the chest. Despite the negativity, it has improved slightly: A.The arenas look slightly different yet familiar due to the lighting, so good call there B.it's challenging if you don't know what you are doing or you have an idiot for a random. C.Oh gods the loot is fairly good! I am enjoying this!! Now for the critiques. I believe this would be better if some of these things happen: A. The Taken version should not be exclusively Taken. Seriously, one of these rounds we should have some normals enemies thrown in there that become Taken (similar to the story mission from TTK) and maybe if we saved them, the could potentially help us? Hated enemies join together for a common goal for a round? It be neat at the very least B. The normal version should not be exclusively the normal. Throw some Taken in there and we have to purge the arena so it doesn't come back. C. More things to do. I love Variks but it gets a tad annoying when I can guess what side objective I have to do (Destroy mines, dismantle mines, kill important target). There should be more to do to throw us off, like a mini jail-break [let's say a Fallen platoon crashs through the wall while you are in the Hive arena, now you have to fight then and fix the hole before the Hive start to escape] or we could do a King of the Hill style play [we stand near something and fend off the wave of stuff that is coming to kill us.] D. Spawning of enemies. I can sit at a door and camp to kill enemies... Seriously guys make it more randomized 2. Eververse: Another iffy subject as I don't spend a lot in the Eververse Universe (however that Praise the Light emote is driving me mad cause I want it!) But I feel critiques and some minor praises are in order: A.This is getting dangerously close to being pay to win. With the armor, they did it in such a way where it's just random perks on a random piece of gear just like the rest of us, they just don't have to PLAY THE GAME to get it. Seriously people, if you don't like the grind then why play a pseudo-RPG looter shooter? Regardless, if weapons are added and they are not just shaders, then I wil riot with the rest. This has to stop before it gets out of hand and Destiny 2 is pay to win all the way B. Emotes are nice I guess? Some are flat out stupid but a few are good (everyone has been more motivational to their peers at the very least) Do we have are chance to poll for the next? Then d*** it Bungie I want a middle finger! Even if it isn't shown, I want it make it happen. C. I have the potential to get a free emote for RNG blessing me with the Taken armor set (which for a Titan looks ugly as hell and I have yet to gain a single piece) Really?... Come on... If you really want me doing this pay you more than I should thing, I need to be impressed. Or at the very least give me some free Silver from time to time for being awesome. 3. Strikes: Regarding the Blighted Chalice strike, it's alright. Not exactly what i was expecting as it feels like an Omnigal rehash, but it has potential: A. I like Malok and how he literally changes his ability during the course of the battle. Nice work! B. He's not a bullet sponge!! Praise the Light!! C. The 'Shadow Touched' debuff is interesting but it makes it not at all worth while to run and gun and as such half the time you are fighting the spawn instead of Malok himself. D. It's challenging in its own way, which is a very nice change of pace regarding many a strike! And that's really about it, it wasn't horrible by any means but not what I was craving for in this drought. And now regarding other strikes... A. BRING EVERYTHING UP! I want more variety in my strike playlist than Omnigal, Psion Flayers, and Blighted Chalice! While you're at it fix the playlist so I don't play the same strike three times over! B. What's the point of strike specific gear?... Nothing? Ok... C. More mechanics need to be added in so things are spiced up slightly, or more random encounters but that's probably asking for a bit much 4. New Content: Yea.... NEXT TO NOTHING.... What was supposed to be a story mission was a joke (although the line the Ghost says rivals the Little Light line and was pretty hilarious) and I got to collect things... and do a strike... that's it... Listen I love Destiny and the universe... I love the story and the ideals it faces (I'm a writer of this stuff) but d*** does the in-game narrative suck... 5. Exclusive Content: This is a legitimate business practice and I seriously understand WHY Bungie is letting Sony have some neat little things here and there... But holy hell do I want the Zen Meteor! You lucky bastards... And this is a rather side not but at the very least throw Xbox players a bone will ya? Please? 6. Loot: Just excellent! Across the board 250% better than a week ago. I'm actually excited to open packages now! 7. 100% Infusion rate: If this was added ages ago, then it would be welcomed, now?... With the expansive pool of more light leveled gear, the fact this exists is just a nice tidbit. If they had left this out, I wouldn't have complained. **and that's all I'm going to drag out. If you really want to converse about the update then leave a comment and let's discuss together. Although this was a nice update... it's nothing more than that. In the content drought that we are in now, this should have been more expansive or done earlier...   • I do agree that they should add Xbox exclusives but I'm guessing they are mad at Microsoft for something and it's players so the chance of that happening is like me actually getting good grammar and good spacing in my stories a vary low chance but still a chance

    • Here's my opinion on the update: 1. Challenge of Elders was very easy on day 1. Me and a friend 2 manned it twice and got 45k points. Both times when we were in the 315-317 light range. I agree on that the 41 poe needs more. 2. Yes the armor can be pay to win depending on the roll since I got inverse shadow on the new warlock helm. (Though I did get a good laugh out of the Tae Ken clip I made.) I do agree that the flip off emote should be a thing. 3. I liked some of whats in the strike, The room-wide shadow touched thing was interesting, but don't get me started on the boss fight during the nightfall. 4. They over hyped the update. Personally I thought it was the size of Dark Below at the minimum. I was hoping for a new area to get inspiration from. Best part of the story mission was that one ghost line 5. I feel the same way on the exclusive content since it would be cool to get some of it. The only 2 things I don't care about were monte carlo and the iron banner gear set. 6. I'm excited that I can do more on my own. My only complaint is that they didn't bring back the old raids. 7. One for one Infusion was needed day one. What they should do: 1. Increase difficulty of Challenge of Elders from 310-320-330 to 315-325-335. Also add more events and randomized spawns to poe. 2. Give any gear that's obtained from Tess a default perk called Power Steal. (Description: The stats of the first legendary item Infused into this piece are given to this item as well.) As well as have community votes on new emotes. 3. Add more new concepts to strikes than different enemies. 4. Don't over hype the update when there's nothing in it. 5. Give both consoles the quest but add an extra reward to Playstation so we still have something to do. 6. Bring back the rest of the strikes as well as the raids. 7. I got nothing.

        These are just a few observations and ideas I have about PoE. Both 41 and CoE. I'll talk about 41 first. So the drops are good, and the Taken are a little refreshing, however it is just a copy and paste of last year's PoE. So here are a few suggestions to "spice it up." 1. Multiple mini bosses per match: My most enjoyable experience in year one PoE happened to a match that had multiple mini bosses. Round one started off with the pilot servitor and ended the match with Overmind Minotaur. It felt refreshing and cut down on the drag of the typical rounds. So perhaps in 41 we have two rounds where we fight those mini bosses that have a chance to either be Taken or their regular counter parts. 2. Those "bigger" mini bosses: remember Urrox, Gulrot, Qodron, Kaliks, and Valus McChangyshield (I honesty don't remember his name). They had some very fun mechanics and made PoE a little more enjoyable. Well instead of having a regular mini bosses at the end round fight, why not make them the end fight? Their mechanics are not too difficult for a matchmade for team and it definitely makes it more unique. You then could make Taken counterparts to those bosses and add a round or two of mini bosses prior to the end boss like how I explained before. This would up mini boss and minor boss total to about 18 if my math is right. Sounds like a lot of variety to me. 3: Kill Target Enemies. The Kill target enemies are really bland. Cabal should spawn a Colossus major, Vex spawn a Hydra major, Fallen a mini Servitor Prime major, and Hive an Ogre major. There should also be a chance for a Taken Major to spawn like a small Lieutenant. 4: More areas to fight: This one is a bit of a stretch, but I see the areas in the prison more as prison yards since the enemies pour out of doors. So they must sit in cell on the inside right? So maybe we could explore the cell blocks of the prison instead. Most of the Reef is composed of salvaged ships including ketches. Enemies must be held somewhere so I think it would be could if there was a second location for each enemy type that can be entered via door on the right side of the tunnels that connect the arenas to the airlock. These areas could resemble more like the crucible map "The Drifter." Very symmetrical wide tunnels could branch off into small cells and a larger central area to fit a boss. This could randomize the maps a bit more and add variation yet again. So as a recap to ideas for PoE 41. You could add the bigger bosses and "takenify" them to add variation. Rounds could go: 1: normal kill waves 2: kill waves with random objective 3: mini boss 4: kill waves with random objective 5: kill special boss. (All waves could randomly either be in Prison yard, or prison block) As for CoE I think there should simply be higher tier difficulty ads. Perhaps add an objective at boss half health that rewards extra points to offset point drain from tougher enemies.

            • The bad thing is that the new "mission" was about 2 minutes long. So... Yeah. I am having fun playing with my lower level friends though.

                • Well its important to point out this is all from the live team wile most if not all the main people are working on destiny 2 and the expansion this September
