Ship Strikes

This is just something that's been rolling around in my head. In my opinion, the concentration on solely PvP events is a little disappointing, so I have been just thinking about PvE events that people have been wanting since launch. One that sticks out the most is ship battles. My idea is simply four "strike" activities where a matchmade fireteam of 3 launches into orbit and takes out enemy ships or defends an ally with their jumpships. I will go into detail on the four strikes I have in mind, but first I'll explain how ships would work. Firstly ships would gain durability, speed and a set of natural perks extremely similar to how sparrows function. Rarity does alter stars and perks, and is also the main determiner of what strike you are suited for. Ships would handle much like sparrows except more manuveurable and can move in any direction. Common ships would be the weakest, slowest, and only have a "Manual Controls" perk. This perk lets you accelerate with left/right bumper, and slow down or pivot for tighter turns and rolls with the other respective bumper. It is too weak and lacks guns to compete in a ship strike. Uncommon ships are faster, stronger, have "Manual Controls, " and an addition an "Main Cannon" perk which is an auto cannon that works much like the turrets. It will cool down if fired for too long. This can be used by either the left or right trigger. Rare ships require the owner to be level 20 to equip. It is faster, stronger, and gains a third perk called "Heavy Cannon." Heavy cannon is randomly dropped to be either an explosive fusion blast, or a burst fire of three small missiles. It has a charge bar like grenades or melees would, and can be used fairly often. It is used with the trigger opposite to the main cannon. Ships picked up from the blueprint board will always have the same heavy cannon similar to how exotic armor rolls stay the same when bought from the board. Legendary ships are the strongest, fastest, and have the same three perks as rares. Legendary ships can be equipped at levels ranging from 25-30 They also have a natural "Modification" perk that changes the heavy cannon weapon. I will discuss this more in-depth later. Exotic ??? There are four strikes, and a heroic strike playlist. In these strikes ships act much like guardians health, they can weaken but your ghost does repairs while you fight. Taking too much damage too quickly will kill you, and you won't respawn for another 30 seconds. If all players are dead at the same time they will wipe and the battle restarts. Each will be explained below. Wolves Remnants The remaining House of Wolves have been sending ships in and out of the outskirts of the Reef scavenging gear. They have managed to piece together an operating Ketch for the remnants led by an unknown Baron. They are now flying with the majority of their fleet to go take revenge on the Reef in the Queen's absence. Destroy the Ketch in the time allotted before they can reach the Reef's already weakened forces. This strike recommends at least an uncommon ship. Dead Orbit Defense The Dead Orbit Fleet is being bombarded by a squadron of Cabal Harvesters. Destroy all the harvesters before they destroy the main fleet ship. Note that the Dead Orbit Fleet ship will periodically fire from their massive cannons. Do not get caught in cross fire between the Fleet Ship and Cabal. Uncommon recommended. Deathsinger's Verse a Hive Warship (little Dreadnaught) and a fleet of Tombships are heading towards the Dreadnaught. Word is a lesser Prince and a powerful Deathsinger are going to retake the Dreadnaught. The last thing the Vanguard needs is Deathsinger roaming the Dreadnaught. Destroy the Warship before it arrives in the time allotted. Rare or above recommended. Lunar Space Station Hive and Fallen forces have been fighting in orbit over a newly identified Space Station that coordinates system Warsat usage. The Fallen S.A.B.E.R had revealed it's whereabouts and now the Fallen want to scavenge it while the Hive wish to destroy it. Kill all of them before it is destroyed. Note that their are a few Warsats that fire randomly. They can be destroyed because enemies will target it if threatened. Recommend Rare. Heroic Playlist This rotates all four strikes at a legendary ship tier difficulty. Requires level 40 Rewards for this include rare to legendary engrams, shaders, ships, marks, strike specific ships, motes, strange coins, and fusion capacitors and missile ports. Using one of these items on a legendary ship will change its heavy weapon from Fusion Cannon to missile burst. There are three strike specific ships that go as follows. Raging Comet Yellow ship with body type very similar to Ticktock Inquisitor. Has blue flames on front and chrome details and exhaust pipes lining the sides. Drops from any Heroic Battle. Quote "Why does it have sound amplifying exhaust? You're in space..." Spectral Lotus white Hildian Seeker with white lights. Drops from Hive Warship strike. Quote A Reef ship refurbished to commemorate those Awoken lost in the battle with the Dreadnaught. Constellation Jumper LY-55 working on rough sketch currently along with the other ships. Rusted metal ship with faded green and white stripes and logos. Orange lights. Quote Ancient long range jumpship salvaged by Dead Orbit. Weekly Ship Strike works like a heroic story mission and grants extra marks. Not match made. Legendary tier difficulty with shorter time frame or more aggressive enemies. Secret Exotic Ships Manus De Celer-unkown how to obtain. Burst missiles track enemies. Gain a fourth shot to the burst. Slightly faster than legendary ships. Binary Waker-hint Lunar Station Weekly. Subroutine MIDNIGHT EXIGENT=Complete. Rasputin styled ship. Double Fusion blast over penetrates enemies. Slightly stronger than legendary ships.

  • Huh... these are pretty good! I'd do a small change from this and add a story mission right after you first get your ship (the base model) to where you learn the controls (and maybe shoot something if you add a small cannon that breaks off after the mission is over) so newbies will feel special and it will give people a tutorial in a sense But I like the ship designs you made! I feel the tier system could be slightly refined (and make sure the ships don't account for your Light level like the Sparrows) but other than that it is awesome! You should post this somewhere else as well so people outside the group can see this awesomeness

    • Wow! These are cool! One question: for Deathsinger's Verse, why did you choose a "lesser prince and a Deathsinger"? Just wondering.
