Thalor's Golden Maul

Shaxx: "He was Reef-born, among the first of the Awoken to make their pilgrimage to earth and become guardians. With him he had brought an axe of immense power. This axe had been forged in metal that could only be created during the Golden Age. Not long after his arrival, Thalor became a fan of the Crucible, and grew to be a legend among all the guardians. He was revered as one who never lost a match and played with fair tactics and brutal precision. He came to me one day and asked if he could use his Maul as a challenge. I figured that without a gun he would be more vulnerable in a firefight, so I allowed it. Only then had I realized its true power. He was unstoppable. But not long after it came; that accursed weapon of darkness along with its corrupted owner Dredgen Yor. Thorn had come to the Crucible. I remember overhearing some crucible technicians bantering about a hand cannon that was having difficulty accepting the safe rounds for crucible play. I thought nothing of it at the time; it must've been some odd new Omolon prototype. But today I know exactly which gun they were worried about and I personally detest its use in my crucible to this day. I can still see the look of sadness on Thalor's face after that defeat. He seem tired and weary. Dredgen Yor came in like the wind and had eviscerated his fireteam over and over. When Thalor asked what that gun was, Yor only smiled and said, "Meet me, and you'll see".Thalor came to me one night and said, "I'm retiring from the crucible. The fight is evolving and I've been left behind. I gift you this in thanks for helping create my legend. Besides, the real fight it out there with the darkness." He then handed me his Maul. It almost seemed to hum a somber tune as it laid in my hands. Thalor spent his last days wandering Earth fighting the darkness, and still searching for Dredgen Yor. But eventually Yor had found him first near Palamon. I can't imagine what pain Thalor had felt by the wrath of Thorn. He died a legend long ago; a true Victor of the Crucible. I am still glad to call him my friend today. And here you stand guardian. I see a brighter future and a glimmer of hope for the Traveler in you. You have proven to one of the best and I want to give you this; The Golden Maul. Use it and become legend.
