Guardian Link- Episode 14, Hope

The Colossus' gun charged up, letting a series of arc blasts loose from its cannon. Cira, Caeli, and Lacer all ran backward, launching themselves into a nearby alley. The Colossus stopped shooting, walking toward the team. The sound of more Red Legion jetpacking in roared over the sidewalk. "Damn it! This alley's a dead end!" Lacer yelled, crouching down and pounding his fist against a brick wall, too high for them to scale. Cira and Caeli looked at each other uncertainly. Lacer slowly stood back up. "I'm out of ideas, I don't think we can make it out of this alive." Lacer admitted, grabbing his belt. "As much as it pains me to admit it, I also believe the situation is hopeless." Cira replied. Caeli went toward the street, the Cabal would be in front of them any second now. She made her way back to Lacer and Cira, who had begun aiming their weapons. They would fight until the end. "Give me a frag." She demanded, holding out her hand. "Good idea." Lacer said, "better that I don't have them all. Now get behind the dumpster, and load your guns." Caeli went behind the dumpster, resting her foot against the back of it. She clutched the brick wall behind her with both hands, and launched the dumpster toward the street with a kick. The dumpster rolled toward the Cabal, who were now rounding the corner. It struck a legionary in the side, who doubled over in pain. The legionaries behind it began to take hold of the dumpster. "Are you insane?! That's our cover!" Lacer yelled, but Caeli immediately retorted with "Run to the right! Behind the dumpster!" As she unpinned her grenade. Cira and Lacer nodded, sprinting for the right side of the alley and running away from the Cabal. While they ran, Caeli grabbed the top of the dumpster and flung it down, rendering the wheels useless. She rolled the grenade over the side of the dumpster, quickly turning around and running a second before it blew up. Caeli was launched toward Cira and Lacer, who helped her up before continuing their escape. They rounded the street's corner. "Great work, Caeli. Now we have a shot at that colossus!" Lacer exclaimed, aiming his scout rifle down the street. Before he could shoot, an arc blast nailed his stomach, flinging him backward. "Lacer!" Cira yelled, dragging him back into the corner before he could be hit any more, with the help of Caeli. "Is he going to be okay?" Caeli asked, setting him down. "Yes, those arc rounds are made to hit hard, not penetrate." Cira answered, "but without our light, we can't resist those blasts as well. Give Lacer's ghost time to repair his stomach." Suddenly, the Cabal rounded the corner, opening fire at Caeli and Cira, who, surprised, began to shoot back. Jolt- "Guardians, the city is lost. If there is any light left in the system, we rally on Titan. Be brave." Zavala's voice fuzzed through the radio Jolt had found. She stood in a grassy valley, plant life springing up all around her feet. The sky was clear, and the sun shone brilliantly off her silver and orange armor. "We have to go." Jolt said, "but we don't have a jumpship." "I can fix that," her ghost interjected, "There's an abandoned airbase about 20 miles north of here. If we can get there, we can get a jumpship. It's been abandoned for a long time, but I can repair the ships in there, it'll definitely have materials for that." Jolt smiled, putting her helmet on. "All right, then." She said, "let's go." Unbeknownst to her ghost, Jolt had given up hope before he pointed out the airbase. This was the first time such a feeling had ever come over her. Jolt shed tears in her helmet. "I'm sorry I gave up, Crucis. I'm sorry I was so weak. You brought me back, I'll make sure it wasn't for nothing. We'll make it out of here. I can be strong without the Traveler's light." She thought to herself.
