Traveler was evil in early story, but they would be dumb to ditch that idea. They won't. I think the story won't change that much. They hired the writer of Guild Wars for the story. Let him do his work. From Destiny 2 we'll experience a great story as it was intended from Destiny 1. They might wait for the reveal of the evil Traveler but he surely is.

Why do you subject things to good and evil? You automatically assume that worms and nasty things akin with evil. None of the enemy types are evil. If they are evil so are we. They ALL want to expand and build upon their civilization. The hive cabal fallen and vex are all independent civilizations and like any civilization they wish to push out and survive longer. Just because they came to earth and ravaged everything doesn't mean they are EVIL, it's just like America taking over foreign lands. America started out as a bunch of colonies now it's a whole 50 states and a few territories. Do we call ourselves evil!? NO because we feel like we are the good guys for taking land and waging wars for it. Same thing for the fallen give cabal and vex they don't feel like they are evil they are simply trying to survive. If they all were truly evil then they wouldn't be fighting each other. We are just as bad as them. Yes I know we were created to defend our homeland and the traveler came and "helped us" but the traveler must've done something to be running away the whole time. If you think about it real hard... The traveler could've tried to do the same to all the other civilizations out there and they realized that they were being controlled by this thing so they rebelled and came to hate it because it tries to consume them. Luckily the traveler found us. On the brink of desperation it came and "saved" us. In turn we became slaves to its powers and now it is using us to right it's wrongs. WE KILLED HIVE GODS?!? We are destroying THEIR own FAITH. How is that not evil of us??? We follow this traveler mindlessly just because of this thought in our heads that we owe it something. The traveler will consume us all and once we rid of his enemies he will exact his plot and with us user his control nothing will stop him. Don't try to be so assuming of things just because they look a certain way. A rose looks beautiful until you prick your finger with a hidden thorn.

Ok... You know why they reworked the original story? Because if the first game the "traveler was evil" Then what would we do for the next few games? It's called character development. The traveler will show it's true face, and it will add longevity to the game. Think of this like a book. If you read the whole book in one week, you finished it. You read a chapter a week and you have a much longer time till completion. On the flip side you talk about the Light and darkness as if they were good and evil. What if the Vex, Cabal, or Fallen are truly the good ones? For the Cabal and Fallen especially there really isn't much grimoire stating them as evil beings.

The traveler was going to leave which wouldve meant death for all of humanity so how can you say it isnt evil? Itd be like if you saw a box of puppies in the road and a semi 100 yards away coming and you just walked away instead of helping them

A world with no wars or dictators doesn't exist. To acquire that, you must either: force the people to no longer commit crimes with serious punishment, or trick them into peace that is not only false peace built on top of false reasons, but peace that will last for a few years at best. Forcing peace on the world is the same as dictatorship, making the traveler worse than the darkness. Also, the darkness isn't all evil. Light cannot exist without darkness and darkness without light. They are 2 sides of the same coin. Darkness only looks like the bad guy since guardians were made from the traveler. Since we guardians now have the freedom to decide our own path, we can choose either side, and at last decide for ourselves.

This is just a fun theory but I think the traveler is a big ball of crack and we got so high he just got these powers, and the fallen want the crack back, but since the big ball of crack won't accept them they set out to destroy it. Then the darkness was like bro GIVE ME THAT CRACK and we told them to go suck a dick, ended up in a war with them. The Cabal just wanted a little taste but we also told them to go back to their empire and go blow that up. ( yeah they really hate us for that ). And then the Vex are just there. What annoyed me is when he used the deep stine crypt and took it completely out of context.

Even if the Traveler wanted to flee put your self in it's shoes. If you where the last hope against the deep and hive and it looked like things where not going to work out wouldn't you also run.
