Wow is this considered CHEATING?

Yes, without a doubt, cheating

1215

No, just being strategic

Forgive my ignorance, but I just came across this and don't know what to make of it just yet. I could see gamers using it in Destiny Crucible. What do you guys think? Would you buy the Hipshotdot? Apparently they sell is at Gamestop. COMMUNITY RESPONSES "It's only cheating if you get caught" - the underworld "It's not cheating, just pathetic" - Sean "My friend just used a piece of clear tape and a sharpie to do this" -Kyouko "Line up MLG fanboys" -MstrDstryr "It's just a gimmick to try and sell to people who are dumb." -Palindrome "May the Light be your guide!" • I think this kind of thing ruins the whole experience. Not cheating.

  • I just don't see how this would give someone an advantage over me in Reach or any Halo.

  • Is it cheating? No, not in the purest sense of the word. Will it give the user an advantage? For all intents and purposes, yes. Thing is though it's really only a PvP thing, that's the only place the minuscule advantage it's going to provide will become relevant (half the reason I don't venture into PvP unless I absolutely have to), and even then only the bleeding edge try hards will care enough. Avoid PvP and you'll probably avoid it and the 5 or 6 other questionable add-ons of a similar nature that you haven't yet encountered.

  • There is no prize for winning. So I wouldn't say it's cheating. Just absolutly stupid.

  • lolwut? You can literally use a piece of paper. On Halo too? How on Earth does that help? Wow, this is such a crap accessory.

  • Lol what a scam. I used a dry erase marker to mark the crosshairs as a way to learn how to quickscope in Black Ops. It isn't cheating, it actually doesn't help at all due to the inaccuracy of hip fire. You will still kill faster with ADS. The only way it's an exploit is if you use it to mark the throwing knife.

Why would that be cheating? It's a laser you are pointing at your screen, probably not very good on your eyes. Speedhacking, aimbotting, triggerbotting, etc are cheating. If anything I'd be constantly looking at the dot and not at my surroundings.

  • Physical augmentations that do not affect software do not constitute "cheating"

use sticky plasticine , they don't damage your screen at all.... how much does this shit cost ? 40? This is why games need to learn from Counter Strike and many others, where you can change/configure your crosshair

  • I would say, yes. Like the guy said, "You still have a sight even with an emp." It's basically a mod that you don't put in digitally. Will it actually be helpful? Eh, rarely.

  • A lot of people use this for quick scoping, surprised I didn't see anyone else say that. Must really be a halo community. But yeah other than using it for quick scopes its useless, and even then its frowned upon. Also your poll options are bad, I want to say its not cheating, but then I'm saying it's strategic... Which isnt how I feel.

  • Far too much effort to put into a game for me. This is a good reason for all games to have some kinda crosshairs no matter what your aiming state is though. Funnily enough my new monitors actually have this option built in, I don't think it's meant to be a crosshair but it can pretty much do this.

nope, as in many games your accuracy is crap when not aiming down the sights, and even if you have just a year of experience in the shooter genre this thing wouldnt be worth it. it aint even strategic, it becomes obsolete after a while. idiots buy it, gamers wont

  • Meh pretty lame it took them this long to figure something like this out. I use a spare mnm taped to the screen whenever I do something like this.

  • Meh most people that use it I think only use it in hardcore game modes, also anyone that buys this is a moron because you could go buy a clear window cling and a red sharp to get the same results.

    • I've been gaming for about 25 years and nothing like this has ever even crossed my mind. I never saw any of my friends do it either. I must be FPSing wrong...

    • I don't think it's cheating or strategic, really. I just don't think it's in the spirit of the game. If you're bad at estimating the center of your screen, sure, it'll give you an advantage over where you would be normally, but I don't think this will take a poor player and make them great. I could see this maybe helping me in situations where I get startled by an opponent I wasn't expecting and having it allow me to react slightly quicker, slightly more accurately or consistently. But in that case I feel like using my radar and tracking enemy movements over VOIP in order to better anticipate encounters is a better skill to have. So the most significant reason I could see myself using this is if I've already failed and need to compensate for that. In that sense I could see it being a slight crutch.

    • That would make me worse at the game. The big glowing red dot in the middle of the screen would distract me.

How is that seen as cheating? It helps with sniping if it's a game where the sniper always zooms in at the middle of the screen but other than that I don't really see the uses for it. I know people would put a piece of tape or just a tiny bit of gum or something on their screen to make mythic runs in Halo 3 a little easier.

      • Its cheating because it removes the aiming recoil.
