Wow is this considered CHEATING?

Yes, without a doubt, cheating

1215

No, just being strategic

Forgive my ignorance, but I just came across this and don't know what to make of it just yet. I could see gamers using it in Destiny Crucible. What do you guys think? Would you buy the Hipshotdot? Apparently they sell is at Gamestop. COMMUNITY RESPONSES "It's only cheating if you get caught" - the underworld "It's not cheating, just pathetic" - Sean "My friend just used a piece of clear tape and a sharpie to do this" -Kyouko "Line up MLG fanboys" -MstrDstryr "It's just a gimmick to try and sell to people who are dumb." -Palindrome "May the Light be your guide!" • Its cheating because it removes the aiming recoil.

  • If you are into shooters but suck real bad then yes why not. If you are really good then you are cheating yourself.

  • xD I wouldn't call that cheating. To me, it looks like it just makes people feel more secure about their shots.

  • I also find it laughable, that even with the red dot they are still aiming for center body mass in this video, so it clearly doesnt help their pathetic aim. Although by doing so they are still getting headshots. Just shows how bad black ops 2 hit rego is.

  • That is absolutely pathetic. Essentially it is cheating, it's just hardware based rather than software. If the dev didnt want the reticle to disappear it wouldnt, simple as that. Although in saying that a few of the ASUS gaming monitors have this function built in also. But its reticle eats a massive amount of screen real estate. But regardless, it's pathetic, to me its marginally better than the losers that ESP/Wallhack or aimbot. At least it requires you to aim still, but they're still total rubbish for using it in the first place.

  • So, let me get this straight. There are people who don't know where the center of their screen is, and they buy a device which has to be at least 20 bucks to show them. Then they use the device and think that it made them better at gaming? There is a limit to how much stupidity one can take before they just give up.

I think this is the same as using a scuf controller. I think it's fine to use these things in PVE but for PVP it's kinda a disadvantage to those that are old school. But whatever, To each his own really. If you feel like you have to use something that makes you feel better about yourself then go for it ◕‿◕ ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و I for one am confident that I can still shoot you first while you are squinting to see the red dot on the screen

      • Yeah, anyone who feels the need to buy this probably really needs it anyway. Just listen to the guys in the video. "Duur, It really improved my game because...I can see exactly where the red dot is...that Im going to shoot." Best of luck to you mate.

        • Considering the fact that all weapons in this game have reticles anyway... it's completely useless.

        • Wait, Halo was an example in the video lol Who would need this in Halo? o.0 And, if you don't already know where the middle is you must be quite bad.

        • Actually in destiny you zoom a little bit below the exact middle of the screen. This would not help in Destiny.

Ok so i tried this out with tape and a sharpie on a killzone story mission and i have to say... Anyone who buys this thinking they will have an advantage is mistaken. While this may be different for other games but i am talking about my experience on killzone. Using a sniper i would only hit if it i got lucky at 3-4 feet away and at any other range its a guaranteed miss especially since you get no zoom without aiming. I used a shotgun which didnt change much because its a shotgun it only works at close range and its a burst shot so its going to go everywhere. I used several assault rifles and its only accurate at close range while medium range its almost always a miss. The only gun i tried that this actually worked with was the machine gun called the purger. The purger has no sight but gives a crosshair if you gave that setting on. And that crosshair in-particular is one of the best being 2 horizontal lines that have a small space between them and in that space and slightly above is the dot. And using that machine gun regularly and with the dot i can say it doesn't really need the dot as long as you use crosshairs. The only reason the dot works for the gun in the first place is because it has no sight so it doesn't cost precision if you dont use the sight. So anyone relying on this will result in his or her downfall. I believe destiny does cost you precision if you dont aim although i understand concern when people could use this and see the radar at the same time. I doubt it would be effective on destiny either and id be more concerned with the sniper rifle that lets you aim and see the radar at the same time we could preview during the beta, because that gun is going to be a beast. And as far as the hipdotsight, we dont have anything to worry about as they are going to be free kills Edit: this also works well with pistols at short to medium range, but if you're against a pistol you are almost always going to win with any gun thats not a pistol as long as they dont get a headshot. (If neither of you miss any shots and you are both shooting at full speed)

          • Yes, without a doubt it is cheating. The comment by the marines about always cheating is out of context here. EMP would remove the ability to sight unless a measure was built into the gear to counter it. If the marines go into the field without that measure they can not cheat it into their mission. In video games the red dot hip shot device is not built into the game and the EMP is intentionally introduced as an aspect of game play. Besides, how would any marine cheat such a thing into his own hip shot? Your character and his aim point do not move. Everything around him moves...not so with the marine. Needless to say, many already understand this and attempt to hide their own use of it. The claim of elite is false for so many.

          • ah yes, the oldest trick in all of FPS-History - just in a fancy 2.0 version... . i am 29 and play video games since 22 years ago - and due to various different forms of crosshair restrictions, screen-bumping effects or view-angle dis-centering in modern games, regardless of for 1st or 3rd person view shooting, brawling, stabbing, flying, driving - either directly meant to lessen/ disrupt aiming capabilities, or out of bad desing - i have a 3 X 2 millimetre triangle out of thin red plastic-bag skin attached to the center of my - only - TV (via simply wetting it in the first place) since 6 years ago, kiddoz! :) so yes, you "cheat" the game by something like this - but no, it is nothing evil or forbidden, in fact it's a funny little part of gaming history itself. feel free to feel more hardcore/ good/ bad*ss for not even using such practical tiny little helper-thingy's, or feel free to feel more hardcore/ smart/ bad*ss because of using them - but it won't change that it is neither a big, nor a hot topic - but instead just some of those topics that come up every now and then since practically decades, because some kid just learned about it for it's first time and starts a discussion out of it, gathering more kid's learning about it for the first time, vets that can feel awesome for knowing about it since ever like me - and guys that can feel awesome for very openly announcing how much of "unneeded" or "bad, bad, bad" the content of the topic appears to them. this thing repeats over and over again since soo long ago, it'za real classic of gaming - a very part of our modern culture.

Not #Destiny. Should be #Gaming However, I feel bad for people that need something like this just to compete. It's bs, but what can you do?

Its cheap for sure although I can definitely see this improving a players kdr and being effective i have never heard of this until you posted it but it does look to be a crazy advantage since many gamers just cant tell the exact center without the sight
