First vanguard faction item, can I screw this up?

Forget the armour buy Gjallarhorn!!!!!

If you want to level up as quickly as possible ([b]and assuming you have 13 strange coins[/b]), can I suggest holding off buying anything from the Vanguard for a couple more days until Friday morning? There's a good chance Xur will sell some Titan armour, and if you buy an armour piece from the Vanguard now, there is a chance you'll find Xur is selling armour for that same slot. With a Vanguard armour piece (light 32?) and an Exotic piece (42?) you could wind up very close to level 29. If you get particularly lucky, and Xur is selling a Titan Helm, you can pick up a Chest Piece form the Vanguard and an Exotic helm and you'll have two 18 light armour pieces, a 42 and (I think) a 32. Can't remember what the base light for Legendaries is now, but I think that's right. You need 109 light for level 29 and that combination would give you 110. You're relying on a bit of luck, of course in having Xur sell what you want, but it could happen! If Xur doesn't sell a helmet engram and you have motes of light (23 or more) he might have helmet engrams for sale. So that's two chances that Xur could have the thing you need. Even if he doesn't have a helmet you can get hold of, I'd still suggest holding off a few days just to be sure you don't wind up with a Legendary in the same category you've just blown all your Vanguard marks on! All advice only, of course. Feel free to ignore me and go your own way - it's your character, after all :)

Vanguard stuff is mostly rubbish in my opinion BUT get some with perks that will benefit you I.e if you use scout rifles get quick reloading gloves for scout rifles and so on
