i want to make a point about crucible and us

I know that everyone (including me) gets tired of my complaining about our lack of strategy in crucible, but i want to offer some experience to back up my sour grapes. About a month ago i was playing crucible with the clan one night, and we started off winning a few matches, maybe even owning a few so we were feeling pretty good. Then the tide turned, now maybe the group we were owning backed out and we got a new group of good players, but we started losing and I mean losing hard! At least 5 grand a match. I started insisting that we needed to hold one zone, it didnt happen, everyone just keeps fighting for b, (and dying). We get brutalized for about five matches each time im encouraging the team to hold one zone for a few minutes and make them come to us to even up the score because once the opposing team gets ahead by about two thousand points chances are you wont recover. Every time the argument I hear is " if we control two zones we get more points for our kills". But we arent controlling two zones are we? We rush B and get massacred and add to the opposing teams score. I finally have had enough and leave the fireteam, I immediately jump back in with randoms, and join a match in progress on the anomaly, and BTW I swear im not making this up. Im on the losing team and we are getting rocked, well i spawn on A and decide to stay there, a few seconds later two more teammates spawn, see that im not moving, and stay with me, at some point four of the six members are sitting on A. There are only three ways into A, and im praying they come through the chute right onto the flag, and they do. It was a massacre! I mean these guys were idiots granted but they just poured through that tube, and we just picked them off, it literally was like shooting fish in a barrell. We controlled one zone, and started making up our score quickly. Flash forward to the last Iron Banner. The performance was off and on, and lets be honest when its just crucible you dont mind it so much but when you are trying to get rank for weapons and etherics, it becomes a little more important to you. The last day I played with the clan we got trounced hard. I had reached the cap for mercy medallions i could carry, and i quit, again urging the team the whole time that we needed to work some strategy not just rush into their bullets, but no it didnt happen. The next day I joined with randoms, the first match was close, and we only lost by about 700 points, we owned the next two, then lost one pretty hard, then came back and owned the next two, i got my two etherics, and two fellwinters. We never discuss strategy prior to a match, we never find out who our strong snipers are, we never hold a zone leave two on it, and send the other four to the next one, we always try to control B which has almost no cover on any map, and yes I know the distance between a and c is greater but if your getting slaughtered try something different, i never understood why we didnt hold A and C on shores of time. Heavy spawns on A there is great cover, its a short jont to C, and you have cover getting to it, why would you willingly enter the fray only to get mowed down? To hell with B! We never regroup when we start to lose and camp on one zone for a bit before trying for another. The point I was trying to make is I do better with randoms, and it shouldnt be that way, we should be able to communicate, and hold our own, but we dont, and its very frustrating, I know its just a game but I dont like losing at anything, and if we lose five matches in a row and cant get it together, then I gotta split. I hope you see my points when you read this im honestly not trying to be a dick or condescend to anyone I just know we can do better, so why dont we?

  • I get where your coming from, and am happy to try any strategy , but, theres always a but, i want to enjoy it. Winning is great but i like playing with other dogs more than i do winning, im 50 years old and if we are gonna give out to each other like kids cause we are not winning i think that kinda defeats one of the main tenets of the clan,, i like playing with you man and i like your passion in the game, i just cant be that serious about a game

But you also have to act on the fly depending on how the other team is moving. I would agree that we can do better as a whole group but really if we change out teammates every hour then how can you expect to mesh well? Play rumble and get better at killing others. As long I'm shooting them more then them shooting me then I should win. Period. 1 body shot kill is 100 points & capping a zone is only 75. Cap 2 zones hold them as long as possible and kill everyone! Rumble, rinse, repeat. Strategies will come and go but getting more kills will get you the win. One last thing...Crucible with teammates is supposed to be fun, win or lose. Not trying to be harsh man but if its no longer fun why keep playing?

You make some good points but in most situations its better to just hold A and B, or C and B. Reason for this is to prevent spawn flipping. Every game is different though, some times A and C hold will be the best bet if you're getting far behind. Better communication and some strategy is definitely an area that could use some work. The most common problem I see is team mates going for triple cap, not necessary. If we can successfully get the other team in a spawn trap we will be victorious every time.

        • on another note. This is also the reason I typically stay out of the crucible. lol The frustration is not worth the rewards in my opinion. I would much rather do bounties or try and solo a raid or something. Maybe even run around on patrol and gally myself endlessly. hahaha

        • I can day I agree and disagree. Or maybe misunderstood you a little. I feel bad when I say I rarely play crucible with the clan. I have a group of long time friends of about 4 and we always do banners together. 1. Abesolutely u must communicate and not just run back in as fast as u can after dying because you are going to die again. Lol. 2. We don't just hold 1 point and wait for them unless even our best player is getting trashed. Holding 1 zone only is last resort. Typically we call out from the beginning what 2 zones we want usually from the most experienced pvp player that knows the maps and spawns. We call out supers and where piles of enemies are so blade dancers and titans can super them for big kills. And we always wait for each other on heavy. Every one rocking heavy is much better than 1 rocking heavy. We typically won most matches we played. I mean every now and then we got just plain trashed. But if there was a horrible beating then we backed out and relobbied to look for a better match. All and all I think I would agree with u on the fact that u can't just run around randomly and expect to win.

I generally do better with randoms too. But its because with randoms, I'm after a better ratio. With a team, I'll sacrifice for the win. And no matter what the strategy you implement, there is a way to counter it. Everyone move together? A Nova bomb or Fist of Havok takes everybody out. Split into fire teams of 3? The other team moves in force and wipes us three at a time. Hold one's zone, they grab two and snipe us. There is only one solution. Improvise, adapt, and overcome. And the only real way to implement something like that is to play together, often and see what works and what doesn't. There should be designated leaders to make calls. But that's difficult with people jumping in and out of matches. Now, add the new map factor. It's hard to implement strategy when you're learning a new map. Each map is different. We tended to own Rusted Lands, but failed miserably on Anomoly. Do you have to consider the respawn factor. We were together, one or two of us dies and boom were on the other side of the map. Alone. And that weakens the rest of the team.

            • I agree communication is key. Whenever i do iron banner i bark orders around, get mad at people who dont listen etc. Also calling out supers is also good, if you hear blade dancer at B! It means dont go there to feed them kills. I reach rank 5 in IB just playing solo so i know im that good. But trials is another story.. dem cheaters..
