When the taken king launches you will start at your current level. There is a new sword weapon called the Arc Edge. In the tower you will be able to switch between your weapons that you have equipped to show them off. You can now find ghost shells that which give you perks. The light system is now an average of your attack and defense. Your strength, Intellect, and Discipline are now more clearly shown. You can now hold 32 quest. Class items now have perks. Armor and weapon space in your vault will now be increased to 72 while your space for general items will be 36. When you buy the taken king you will get an item called Spark of Light which will let your character be level 25 automatically. There will now be kiosk that will let you track which exotics, emblems, shaders, and ships you have and haven't acquired. Factions are now pledged to and can only be changed once a week. Any reputation gained in year 1 will be carried over to year 2. Vanguard and Crucible marks are now called legendary marks which are shared between all characters and have no cap. New quest and bounties will be added to the rotation. Dismantling legendary items will give you legendary marks. Exotic blueprints are being added to let you obtain any exotic you lost and will be shared across all characters. Some year 1 exotics will be upgraded to the year 2 level cap but not all of them will. Exotic perks are immediately unlocked when purchasing them from the collection. Current weapons will not be loading power. The cryptarch will now sell legendary engrams for legendary marks. The gunsmith will now allow you to take weapons into the field to try them out. Gaining reputation with the gunsmith will allow you to purchase legendary weapons from him. There will be a new infusion system for year 2 legendaries and exotics. Next Wednesday Bungie will have another stream showing off the dreadnought and a strike.
