Well? Should they be?
No, this isn't a petition. It's more of a general census if any thing.
Edit: I remembered seeing this and dug it up.

It's the old CoC. I wish B.net would revert back to those rules. I think it would keep #gaming and Offtopic a bit cleaner.

Ya know, my dad said to me once,"If you're ever at a party, don't talk about religion, politics, and money." The same thing goes for keeping friends. Whenever I see these threads, I rarely see spirited debate; I mostly see folks tearing each other apart. Political threads are blind and biased opinions and religious threads are intolerant rants laced with prejudice and bigotry. We don't need to create conflict where none should exist, and unfortunately, there are notable trolls that thrive on it. While I like the idea of discussing any topic, most users here aren't mature enough to carry a civil conversation. I want the old b.net rules back.
-
Absolutely not. When the two sides remain somewhat respectful and give an attempt at having some actual substance in their comments, these type of threads can often be some of the most informative and interesting threads on the site. They're also a nice break from the spammy Lenny bullshit flooding the rest of the site.
-
No matter what, even if you strongly disagree with someone, you should never shut down communication of ideas. Talking with one another about important issues is vital for democracy and improving all the crap that happens around us. So go into those threads and instead of telling them to shut the -blam!- up, tell them there -blam!-ing assholes ;)

Nope, we need that hate and fire to keep this forum alive those make up post of our posts and threads some days, can't let #Desticle win now, now can we?

Edited by Bravo: 11/17/2015 4:01:39 AMIt would make bungie look shittier than they already do if they ban them.Their doing it just to avoid certain people ranting about how their being discriminated against.
I wasn't referring to Christians I was referring to XDC and his followers
Edited by tjustie: 11/17/2015 3:39:09 AMI don't think so. Moderation just needs to be stepped up. Threads like those have helped me learn a lot. They also provide some serious conversation.
-
People who get flustered by opinions they do not share should not open those threads.

Fuck censorship

Only if it's for teh lulz

Edited by M1Silencer: 11/15/2015 10:35:48 PMYeah, with a majority of this community being made of younger users, as in younger than 18, there isn't much of a place for serious and civil religious or political discussions. Although Bungie believes that the community is mature enough to handle these types of discussions, because the community is comprised of such young, inexperienced users it is highly unlikely that the average maturity level here will be at all ready for these types of discussions. Until a majority of children ages 8 - 18 are knowledgeable about the world and mature enough to intelligently express their ideas, then this place has no need for religious or political discussions.
-
I think that Offtopic is a good place for people to vent their arguments about these things. Not saying that it should be a political/religion forum, but I'd rather people argue here than out in the actual world where people could get hurt. And before you blow up on me about your feelings, let me remind you that an easy solution to not getting your feelings hurt online is just to not open threads like these.

What the hell would we argue about? Xbox V PlayStation all day?

It would keep #gaming and offtopic cleaned up.

Old rules were better. Discussing religion online is pointless, especially here. Noones views will change is just pointless bickering and belittling. Politics I don't care as much about as the discussions take a little longer to turn into a name calling shit show but most people on here I don't think know anything about politics
-
Nahhhhhh
-
Why you in LLC2 of you don't want religion threads?
-
I think isms in general are a bit much for my liking on this forum. They're distasteful and full of hate.
-
If anyone was here back before we got the new site, you would remember the used to be. Baring mind this was when I was a lot younger, I loved the thought of having these discussions. It felt edgy and it was fun because we weren't to do it. Now that they are allowed, there is less magic to them. They rarely lead to anything and mostly are just circle jerks. Religion, Politics and Music are the three things people keep closest to their chest. You aren't going to change anyone opinion on those, ever.
-
So censor the /r board? I don't think so
-
No they're fine. Honestly they are generally pretty easy to pick by their title. If you don't like those threads don't open them.

Edited by Arashi Sora: 11/15/2015 12:29:36 PMI never seen a single religion or political thread last longer than 10 minutes on this forum without turning into pure hate and baiting. This community isn't mature enough to handle these kinds of discussion. Did you see that age poll? Around 40% of us are young teenagers, which the next highest group being mid-teenagers. People of that age don't really know shit about religion or politics and what's really going on in the world. If there was an age limit to posting in such threads, maybe then the older more mature member of the forum could discuss topics like this without it turning into a hate-fest. (or at least delay it from happening for a lot longer). These threads were banned on the old forum for a reason, and I quite happy about that. Now it seems like political and religion threads take up half the front page at any given moment and there are dozens of pure bait threads every day that continue to get made since is no consequence of doing so. The mods were much more strict back in the day, but some things they needed to be strict on. The rules are too loose now, and the sheer about of pure garage and hate that comes out of this forum on a daily basis is just sicking. There is a medium between before and now that should allow for less strictness than B.Old, but allows threads that just breeding grounds of idiocy to be shutdown.

I don't think so. Offers a good source for discussion with those who are willing to discuss properly. The only complaint that I have is that the Christians here are letting themselves get stomped on by atheists - you guys need to start engaging these people and stop hiding. Every time I come on here, I see at least 2 threads floating around incriminating Christianity/religion, and its always flooded with atheists sounding all big and bad in the comfort of home territory.

Wow, 45% + 45% + 11% = 101% We broke the forums!
