Edit: If you don't like to read long posts I have written a short paragraph that summarizes at the bottom.
I want to be as peaceful as possible because I want to truly believe you guys are trying. I have played since Beta. I have loved this game since Beta. Today marks the first day that I'm actually completely baffled and upset with the decisions you've made.
I haven't been upset by the glitches in the raids. I'm used to there being glitches in a game. I'm not upset at the faults in the raids that allow cheese to be done. I'm used to there being cheese in a game where ppl can solo parts of the game. Don't get me wrong, I mind them. But I tolerate them because I trust eventually you'll figure it out.
I read these forums every day. I read other destiny forums every single day. Hundreds of posts and replies every darn day. I understand so many people complain and it's hard to make everyone happy (really it's impossible).
The majority of things ppl don't like are: glitches, too much secondary ammo in PVP matches, Xur selling DLC exotics almost exclusively as of late, server problems, the balance of different sides in PVP maps, and that dedicated players since September virtually had a reset in power with the launch of the new DLC.
I personally don't think ANY of the aforementioned are problems that come close to making this game unplayable. I actually am highly satisfied with this game despite the few tweaks it needs. If you made zero changes I would have still played this game until HoW.
If I was given one chance to list a general problem in Destiny it's that I want More! I want more fun and complex public events. I want an easier way of communicating in game with more guardians I have never played with. I want more matchmaking. I want more direct communication with the dev team so I know what they are debating on every day at work. I want more methods of showing my accomplishments in PVP. I want more PVP tournaments that give exclusive rewards to maxed level players. I want more PVE challenges where two groups can perhaps challenge other teams to a race to finish or kill a VIP in a raid, strike, etc. I want more storage space in my vault. I want more slots for my inventory, weapons, shaders. I want more of what you guys have started to give me... A game that rewards players for their dedication and effort.
Now I come to read that Bungie has taken it upon itself to actually create a severe problem in the destiny world. You are trying to force us to change our habits by giving us less.
I saw the data. I play PVP almost exclusively except for nightfalls, weeklys, and raids. I absolutely love pulse rifles. I've played FPS games since Unreal Tournament and Quake. I've always ALWAYS preferred playing with handguns and 3 round burst semi autos. Let me further add that I've played with those weapons in PVP even when ARs are far and away more powerful. Why? Because I enjoy the challenge of needing to get crit shots to match the AR's rate of fire. Destiny is the first game where the semi autos just haven't been able to cut it in PVP matches. I believe the reason is that the impact is so pathetic that other guardians just laugh off my shots. This is counterintuitive. Semi auto bursts should have higher impact or at the very least equivalent for ARs. If for some reason you're afraid the increased impact will make these weapons "stupid broken" then make the damage for pulse rifles higher than all other guns and/or increase the crit modifier.
Please. Do not try to change us. The fact that such a high percentage of players use ARs, shotguns, and fusion rifles isn't necessarily because those are the best weapons to use. It can also be because a majority of peopel really enjoy playing with the Suros (as an example)! It's a freaking fun weapon to use! It's buttery smooth to fire and the sounds it make are so sweet to my ears. The design is beautiful and unique. It feels like a samurai sword on my back when I run around in the tower. Same thing goes with the invective, found verdict, plan C, shadow price, etc. they are fun weapons and useful in PVP. Don't be our parents taking away our toys and telling us to play with something else. If you want us to expand our horizons give us MORE for those weapons you want to see us use.
I mean for heaven's sake, the majority of people complaining about PVP clearly don't utilize their radar or minimize their exposure in map positioning! Don't coddle these people they need to figure it out on their own! My first Iron Banner, I was rolling with a stable shadow price and comedian shotgun that wasn't close to 300 damage. Did I make posts complaining about the hawkmoons vexes and suros' that were killing me? No! I ranked up to 4 with my warlock and hunter and proudly displayed my gear. The most recent IB, I rolled with that same Comedian still not 300 damage and a 301/307 do gooder. Went up against 32s and still was able to hold my own and rank up a warlock, Titan, and hunter. If I can do it, everyone can! They just have to learn.
We are the players. It is our job to find our personal special methods of playing within your game parameters. You are the game designer. It is your job to give us a consistent game that won't have incredible changes that nullify the habits we have already formed for months. It is also your job to be transparent with us so we can develop a close trusting relationship with you. If you must insist on changing our habits, do so by providing us with more opportunities and choices to make. Don't put us in a position where we have no choice but to comply.
Guys and Gals at Bungie: We might complain but we still are playing the game every single day. Many millions and counting are addicted. We love what you've built. Continue to build up. Do no tear down. I'm almost 30, I've been a gamer since I was 5. I actually saved my allowance for a year just so I could afford to buy my first sega genesis because my parents wanted me to learn the value of a dollar. There are millions of dedicated gamers just like me. And when the new gen systems were announced, I along with millions were salivating for something truly original yet familiar. Destiny is that game for me. I know I'm not alone. We need an actual dialogue with the devs who clearly control destiny's fate. Since September I truly felt that dialogue was slowly building. Today, it sadly seems like you guys are monologuing your way to disaster. Worst of all, you're giving us a glimpse of what could be & when you make drastic changes we can't help but feel mourning. Please stop and reverse course.
Thank you for your time.
Cliff Notes: I love this game. I am an average PVP player. I do not feel PVP is so utterly broken that the only solution can be to change a majority of weapons in the game. I believe Bungie is wrongfully trying to change our way of playing. I think they have good intentions, but it's illogical to have to break something down in order to bring something else up. I feel the changes they are about to make set a dangerous precedent of an inconsistent playing experience. I humbly suggest Bungie raises impact and/or crit multiplier for pulse rifles instead. Thank you so much!

That was a hellofa long post
