How much more of a burden are the increased taxes that compensate for free health care. I want to move to Canada and want to know as much as possible.

Taxes aren't really all that high. Our minimum wage is significantly lower tho. And our dollar isn't worth shit right now.

Health care costs are rising due to the baby boomers getting older. The elderly tend to visit doctors a lot. Totally worth it though. The amount paid in taxes versus the one or two serious visits to a hospital are worth it. The serious savings come with our education costs. You can graduate for the cost of one or two years of schooling in the states ( university).

Thanks for the replies all. i'm seriously considering moving there but i hear it's difficult if you're an average person..

Good luck moving there... You know how hard it is to get a permanent living status in canada

This, to a tee.

I read that as tree for a second...

Not a burden at all. The system here is good. Quality healthcare. Its not perfect, but no system is... Wait times are exaggerated for propaganda purposes. You are never denied top quality care. If you have an emergency you are treated right away. Good doctors. Great nurses. I have a job. 2 kids. Own my house and my car. Burden doesn't even come close.

It is nice to just walk into a hospital when you are feeling sick but not too sick...

In the end you will see you are getting more benifits for the tax but they keep raising them so be careful. Also depends how clumsy you are and how often you reap the benifits at the hospital haha
