We see a movement saying that we are becoming so focused on what the term to be "healthism" and claim that many people are obese due to genetics and disorders that can cause weight gain. People are not blaming themselves and trying to blame genetics as they do nothing to change their habits of going to McDonalds every other day. They even denounce many accurate studies and appeal to emotions rather than logic while we have to pay for their medical issues that obviously aren't caused by their weight. It's a nature vs nuture thing, with many HAES activists claiming that weight is solely based on nature when, at the end of the day, only you decide what you put into your body. Are we truly seeing one of the worst movements to date: a movement based on ignorance and self-delusion? I personally think so, but I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

  • Some people do have conditions that cause them to gain weight (usually a hormone problem) and some of it is down to genetics (more build than body fat though) The majority of people just overeat and don't do enough excercise. Other factors include psychological issues (comfort eating seems fairly prolific) This could all be managed though.
