You know what? I'm going to make this my hideout if you don't mind smiggs. It is an art hub after all. And I've decided that I want to brush up on established concepts and characters of mine that I've created in the past. So. I'll be dumping them in here from now on.
So for starters, I'd like to talk about some writing of mine that's evolved over the past few years. It initially started out as a loose sci/fi folder but since then everything has all merged together in a loose web of connections. So I guess I've written up a bit of my own universe! So, for starters, I'd like to explain the context.
All of my sci-fi stories take place far in the future. This is a future tens of thousands if not millions of years down the line. The species, humanity, has long since left their cradle homeworld and even the confines of their old galaxy, which has been lost in time and name. In this future, humanity is no longer one species or varient.
With the meeting of new species, with the exploration of new worlds, and new environments, taking into account natural evolution over the course, the Humans I write about in my stories are never described in great detail. I do this, because with so many varients of the human species spread out across the stars, they're going to look a far cry from what we do today.
You have alien environments, gravity factors on worlds, space stations, hybrids of species, cyborgs. An explosion of the Human species into every size, every shape, every colour, every type. The galaxy is so immense, and Human beings so wide spread and varied among all the other lifeforms they walk with, that there is no defining human empire. There are cliques if you will, pockets of the galaxy that are controlled space by a specific group of Humans or aliens.
These pockest are not very large, and mainly extend to colony worlds only. As a result, with all of these separate worlds, separate laws and customs, cultures often develop, flourish, collide, and clash. It's a shaky, unstable universe. But it's a bright future, one in which humankind spread out to the stars like seeds. Every seed made something different, every world or enviornment eventually sculpting and evolving humankind into something unrecognizable from their origins.
In such and expansive place, with so many species, how does one keep track of communication?
A very simple, and basic, universal language often used by species across the galaxy is known as "Common." Some life forms require vocal translators or other technology, but the basic, and extremely ancient language of the galaxy that is used for small talk, trading, business, and interactions with other species has always been there.
So the very core concept of my loose collection of stuff over the years, is expansion. Expansion, evolution, and the growth of something new and spectacular.
