Why do people keep saying VENUS is hotter than Mercury? You guys need to learn the order of the planets.
People say Venus is the hotter because, wait for it, Venus IS hotter than Mercury.
On Mercury temperature will vary from -170°C up to +420°C approximately during the day/night.
On Venus the temperature is pretty much +465°C all the time.
You need to learn that closer to the Sun doesn't necessarily mean hotter. There are things like atmospheric properties and other variables that have to be accounted for ;-)

This is true because Venus has an atmosphere primarily composed of CO2. However, Destiny is set in the future and Venus has obviously been terraformed (most of the land is covered in plant life). Plants would have reduced CO2 levels and boosted Oxygen levels. The other side of this argument is: How did they terraform Venus? The planet does not fall into what physicists call the 'goldilocks' zone (not too hot so that water boils, not too cold that water completely freezes). Without water, life as we know it cannot exist. Earth is unique in our solar system as it is the only planet to be in the Goldilocks zone associated with our star (the sun). If you'd like to know an estimate of how many exoplanets are within the Goldilocks zones in the universe, research the Drake equation. Source: I'm a scientist.

Cookie for you sir. Parashooting on Venus would only take a piece of paper if we could bear the pressures and temps
