I miss the excitement and good vibes that the beta brought to the community. The launch of Destiny, felt like the fall of the Traveler. There's a chance to come back from the damage, it just won't be easy. I used to be one of those who really got into discussing lore and brainstorming ideas and features for the game. I thought I should show the sketch I did a long time ago for a post I made about the lore and where Destiny's story might go. I haven't bothered to update it any longer since it seems there wasn't much hype or discussion about the lore and story after release. The sketch still reminds me of how fun it really used to be on these forums, though.

  • I firmly believe Bungie has something in store. Sure maybe the game was changed when the lead writer left on bad terms. Maybe activision stuck it's nose where it shouldn't. Then again, Bungie has the story laid out, and what the story has in store for us, we aren't ready for it just yet given where we are in this 10 year plan. What good would it do to tell the entire story for a video game saga that's scheduled to run for 10 years? Pace it out. This game has been and will be about exploration of different worlds. And I firmly believe the story is the same. You want to know what happened in the buried city in Mars? Go and find out. Rummage about the place, find the dead ghosts that will unlock a small piece of information. The moon? The hive? Go into the hellmouth and Crota temple and shrine of oryx and look around. You're bound to find a dead ghost somewhere that will give you a tidbit of information. Collect them and the stories come together. Even the weapons have stories. So many characters have been named and introduced throughout the Grimoire, so many events have been detailed throughout the Grimoire. Full fledged action scenes are vividly detailed in the dialogues between characters. I'm a fan of the story. And I hope Bungie has a plan. Based on what I have collected from the Grimoire, a great story is unfolding right in our app! (Bummer it's not in-game accessible). And let me tell you, we are fighting on the wrong side. Traveler is all bad news. We won't find this out until destiny 2 or Destiny 3. What's more intriguing is the role The Stranger will play in all of this. Xur, Zavala, Levante, Eris, Ikora, Cayde, and all other characters in the tower had a big role in how things went down. The story will unwind slowly. It's a ten year plan. Just give it some Patience and Time.

  • I definitely agree that the story as it is now is definitely supposed to be a prologue to a larger story/journey. I don't know if Bungie still has the same exact intentions for the story after the storywriter left, but I still think it will eventually get a better. I'm not exactly talking about how the game's story was, it was more about how lighthearted and friendlier it used to be when being a part of the community before launch. The patience and time to stay with the game is there, it's just that it's some of the players that actually ruin the experience. I really used to look forward to going on these forums, but it has been generally very negative, almost depressing at some points. I nearly quit Destiny for good because many of the "day-one" people I started with, and the clan we started, has slowly died off. At times you just want to play the game, but it's constant hate towards other classes, complaints about nerfs, discrimination in forums about "Xur-ners", or fireteams wanting to cheese through every boss in the game. The list could probably go on for a while. Many players are not this way, but it gets very hard to enjoy the game when usually paired up with people that are and it really makes people question why they liked the game. I guess it was that bad atmosphere that was a big factor and chased off a lot of beta players that really believed in Destiny. I'm still holding on haha, but even though we're definitely around, it's understandable why many left- or are waiting for HoW.

  • I still discuss lore on occasions but it requires deep digging into the grimoir, listening to characters in the tower, and in general research. Its tough but fun...the story is there, just not as apparent
