I understand, it seems like a lot of senseless grinding, halo is always fun but not many friends play it now, and my issue with Minecraft is I like to build huge things (I was part of team craft, builders unit, and by the square) so...it can be offputting

Hm. I always just chilled with friends and built little communities. You may find it more appealing to not have such grand, planned ideas. My best constructions were more spontaneous than anything :) It was fun building something, and then seeing how it could be made more practical and efficient through means of adding on. Eventually that sort of method made for some pretty cool areas. I guess that's just how I like to play Minecraft though. I love grand things as well. Although, I always played on survival. Perhaps you don't. I just always felt more achieved once I finished something and looked on it. Gathered the materials, couldn't fly, whatnot.
