Why MERCURY isn't in the Game
Guys,
Mercury can't be in the game because it's the hottest planet in the solar system. It basically touches the Sun's CMEs and we would all be dead immediately due to radiation and heat. Why do people want to go to a molten rock and fight the vex? These things blow my mind.
Why do people keep saying VENUS is hotter than Mercury? You guys need to learn the order of the planets.

A few problems with your theory First we do go to Mercury in crucible Secondly the traveler changed the planets to the point that life could be sustained Third real life sciences don't apply because the traveler revealed our theories of the universe to be wrong and shone light on a golden age of new knowledge. Fourth Space magic :) I could see Mercury being added in the second comet DLC in future.

Even Warframe has Mercury. It's in game just no PvE content its just one PvP map.

You must be inexperienced. Mercury is in the game and it has one of the sweetest backdrops when in orbit. There's a map in crucible called The Burning Shrine, which is one of my favorite maps.

Edited by integra_93GS-R: 2/3/2015 4:23:46 PMThis is why Venus is hotter than Mercury. Part of it is due to the fact that Venus has a much thicker atmosphere, whereas Mercury has little to no atmosphere. It has nothing to do with which one is closer to the sun!

This has got to be a troll. In a game where the idea of "space magic" is simply accepted and most, if not all of the worlds in our solar system have been terraformed and made viable for human life, you believe The Traveler couldn't have done the same to Mercury? Not to mention that Venus IS hotter than Mercury. The atmosphere of Venus traps greenhouse gases and solar radiation better than that of Mercury, making it hotter. Learn your science, troll.

Look no further than Kim Stanley Robinsons Blue Mars for an example of how living on Mercury could be possible (assuming some advanced in materials sciences--no space magic there.). Arthur C Clarke, the Man himself, praised the Red Mars books for their grounding in hard science. I'm not saying it will ever happen... But it's possible. And has enough ore to probably pay for itself a thousand times over. As for why in Destiny... Because it's fun. I'd fight the Vex on the Sun if it were a fun part of a video game!
