I hate to say it, but I doubt they'll ever shake that moniker. Look at TF2. When it became free, everyone mocked the new players as being "free2plays" "f2p" etc. It. Has. Been. Years. Since. Then. People still use variations of that as a general insult. So I don't think people who got Destiny for Christmas will ever stop being called that, regardless of their skill, grimoire, exotics, or anything else.
