Hawkmoon Vs Thorn/TLW

So naturally playing on Xbox One I don't have the privilege to obtain Hawkmoon yet. So to the players who own both Hawkmoon and another exotic hand cannon, what makes Hawkmoon superior or just a great hand cannon in general? Both Thorn and TLW are PvP beasts for their own reasons, checked out the perks for Hawkmoon and initially they don't look that great, from what I understand at first you have one bullet that causes extra damage then later you get a perk that has this affect on an additional two bullets, the rest seem like general perks but I think it has hammer forged too right? Also numerically can someone tell me how much extra damage these bullets cause in both PvP and PvE. Thanks.

  • Thorn and Hawkmoon are about equal. Last Word beats them at close range. The extra damage bullets do 33% more (or thereabouts), meaning with Aggressive Ballistics selected, you're hitting headshots at about 94 in Crucible and 124 for a bonus damage bullet headshot. I think it was 64 per body shot and 80 with the extra damage. I do prefer Hawkmoon over Thorn though because I find it much smoother and easy to handle But here's the fun part, those extra damage bullets have a somewhat rare chance of occurring in one bullet, meaning you do well over 200 damage on a headshot, which is an instant kill. Another nice thing about it is the stats are all-around amazing. Every weapon in this game is built to have trade offs, like high rate of fire, but low impact, high impact, but low rate of fire, etc. Hawkmoon is good at everything, great range, great damage (it's actually equal in damage to Timur's Lash, despite the actual impact stat being lower when comparing the bars), but it's rate of fire is fast, it's very stable, and it's reload speed is good. Not to mention it's basically a pocket sniper with the range perk. It also has speed reload, which I find more useful in Crucible, since encounters rarely reach the limit of its range.
