Was ejected from side window of a van at 70 mph. Wasn't wearing seatbelt. Broke window with skull, glass shards on edge cut into my lower back & severely damaged my L5/S1 vertebra. Landed on left shoulder & shattered it into 3 pieces. When ambulance took me to hospital, 6 nurses held me down while a doctor put 5 staples in my head (no anesthetic due to concern about time from accident to when I arrived at hospital). Only reason I lived is because I thought I was going to die & had accepted it- I wasn't bracing (similar to how drunks survive wrecks).

Edited by InYoBunnyHole: 2/1/2015 12:55:12 AMNothing. I was sleeping in the middle row of seats in the van & wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Later on found out some animal had darted across the highway & startled the driver which caused him to put the left side of the van onto the grass median. A rock or something shredded the front left tire & he was trying to regain control of the vehicle & was overcorrecting. When he slammed on the brakes we were at an angle & the van started flipping on its left side. From what witnesses told the FHP (Florida Highway Patrol) I was ejected on the 2nd or 3rd flip & the van just looked like it was chasing me. I actually stood up after I came to a stop- the things you are capable of when adrenaline is coursing full on is amazing.
