While I'm sure the OP is either trolling or referring to Neptune or Pluto, depending on who you ask, as farthest from the sun, some scientists say the surface of Mars is not actually red, that NASA is using color filters. In regards to Destiny, though, we're so used to Mars being the red planet, the developers probably thought reddish sand would satisfy customer expectations.
