In regards to Destiny, though, we're so used to Mars being the red planet, the developers probably thought reddish sand would satisfy customer expectations.

12 RepliesNever paid attention in school did you. The sand has a lot of iron in it. When iron rusts it ends up being red. There is no ice or snow because there is no atmosphere. Simple as that.
